i hate this class, it's like we don't even have a professor. We don't get taught anything. We write lesson plans, fail them every time, but they're never gone over in class. Then we're told that we're awful at reading directions. Feedback is SO contradicting. she's fine in office hours but seriously i feel like nothing i do will ever be good enough

Dr. Rommel has zero ability to be a professor. This class is an absolute joke and she enjoys the stress and the suffering that ensues. She is supposed to teach how to be a good teacher and is not a model of such behavior. She is absolutely rude and disgusting towards her students and does not care in any way. Do not take this class with her.

Very hard grader. A lot of group presentations where you teach other groups about how to teach to students. Hard to do well on first few lesson plans because the instructions aren't very clear but you will pick up on what she wants. By far the worst professor I have ever had. I don't know why some people say that she teaches them a lot because I haven't learned anything at all. She is blatantly rude and makes it very obvious if she dislikes you (and it's likely for no good reason). No matter how hard you work on something you will get a terrible grade. Definitely don't take

Dr. Rommel is definitely nowhere near as scary as many of these reviews make her seem. If you put the time and effort in, you'll do fine. For the amount she taught me, I don't mind the lower grade, plus I enjoyed the class so much. It's hard, but worth it. She's a fantastic person, and really cares about her students.

Dr. Rommel is definitely a tough professor. At the beginning of the semester, she gives SO much work at once. This class is very overwhelming, but has taught me a lot. She teaches you how to think as a teacher. Dr. Rommel might scary and pretentious, but she genuinely cares about us. People make her out to be wayyy worse than she is.

Probably the worst professor I have ever had. She has very unclear directions with her assignments and never provides clear explanations of them. I wish I could tell you I learned something in this class. DO NOT take this class.

You will probably hear a lot of scary things about this class with Rommel. Yes it is tough, but she WILL prepare you to be a better teacher! Go to her office hours and take the time to get to know her because she is awesome! This class requires a lot of effort and time and you'll probably cry about it at some point but know she is preparing you!

I have never been more disappointed with the Geneseo SOE. Rommel is NOT a model that students should be looking up to as they prepare to become teachers. She sets exceptions and criteria for you to meet but gives no resources on how to achieve her standards. Want to meet with her during office hours? Be prepared for a hour wait and still not get in

Dr. Rommel-Esham is an amazing professor. She sees which students can go far in education and the teaching world, and will make sure that she pushes them to their potential. She is a highly respected and excellent professor. TAKE HER!!! She's tough, but she's also really fair. This was an intro to the education major class, VERY EASY!! TAKE IT!

I love her, she's hilarious and so chill to chat with... but the class itself was a nightmare. The workload was overbearing. She had us doing 5 assignments at the same time, so it was very confusing in that matter. Her expectations are pretty high and there's clear criteria that she wants you to follow, so if you don't, then you're screwed...

Rommel is frustrating. I get that she is pushing you to be the best teacher but there are many times where I felt that she made class/hw unnecessarily hard. Her directions were never clear, and when you asked her to explain she never did so. She also had us doing 10 projects at once. I don't think she's very humble and that is her flaw.

Awful teacher. She is rude and does not help you. She will tell you one thing and then tell you something different later and take points off for it. This was the class I had to put the most effort into and it was the one I did the worst on. If you are good at sucking up and kissing a** you may do well. I suggest you avoid her at all costs.

This teacher is literally the worst person I have ever had. She literally enjoys making the class difficult and not helping her students succeed. Never go for help because she will tell you one thing and then mark you off for it later on.

Dr. Rommel is hands down the best professor I have yet to have at Geneseo. Yes, shes tough but no where near as difficult as people make her seem. Her office door is always open to help students but YOU have to put in the effort to ask for help when you need it. She forces you to be independent & make you think for yourself but it's very beneficial

You will love her or hate her. If you hate her it is b/c you are still obsessed with grades, get over it. This class is a lot of work. Unlike other classes the work can actually be fun and will actually pertain to your future career. She is without a doubt one of the best school of ed professors. I feel much more prepared to be a teacher.

I wish I could rate her higher than this but I can't. She's such a cool person. Yes, she tells you exactly what she wants, but she does it in a way so that any other way you do something is wrong. A very frustrating class because details are so important. She gave me some good ideas about teaching but I could've found those in a book myself. Avoid.

I was very intimidated by her at first but after a whole semester in her class I love her. She taught me so much about education and she is someone I intend to keep in contact with in the future. Take her class because you will learn so much that will help you as a teacher.
