If you get the chance to take a class with Professor Brown I'd recommend it. His tests are based off of lectures, so the books aren't really necessary to have. He's easy to follow and there are opportunities for extra credit.

To clarify, Dr. Brown lectures and tests off of what he lectures. If you do not show up for the lectures you won't (obviously) pass. There are two short answer exams with a ten source annotated bibliography due the last day of the semester from a topic you choose at the start of the semester. Respected and extremely intelligent professor.

Love Dr. Brown. He reminds me of a mad scientist. He goes off on tangents sometimes, but he's very passionate about his field and it shows. Very knowledgeable and gives extra credit opportunities if you need it. If you are not interested in archaeology then you won't be interested in his lectures, but for those that are, he's awesome.

Interesting course, but lectures were somewhat frazzled. Relates interesting anecdotes, but could use more visual aids in teaching. Takes forever to grade, but you only need a 50% overall to pass. Easy to get higher grade if you go to lecture.

I have taken Dr. Brown twice and have mixed feelings about him. His lectures cover a lot of information and seem to drag with no importance, but his test are very pin point and he expects strong answers with evidence to support them. He gives two exams one mid term one final, and in higher level classes one bibliography which is not to hard.

Good professor, funny at times. two essay exam tests and that is it. If you take this course I would suggest you go to class and take notes, those who did bad in the course really did not try to pass. I missed about 7 lectures and did well in the class. Just take plenty of notes.

I do not recommend him. I Earned B with him but I didn't learn anything. Lectures are vague and hard 2 know what is important 2 write down in notes. Talks mostly about his work on Jergen & Magnolia then suddenly says something important. Pretentious, condescending, & thinks he's better than others field. Refuses webct 2 communicate.

I like Dr. Brown; I'm currently in my 5th class with him. His tests are essay. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. You MUST show an understanding of the material. Reading the texts are a big plus. I had problems with annotated bibliographies because I waited until the night before. I'm a C student, but I get B's with him.

Good professor - just take notes - attend class - he offers extra credit lab hours - so if Archaeology is your interest - this gives good 1st hand experience

Took him for Historical Arch of the Caribbean and it was semi-easy. Two test which come from his lectures. He doesnt really tell you what will be on the test but if you take notes during lecture you will do fine. One annoying 10 source annotated bibliography at the end.

I'm not sure why everyone likes him so much. I am an A/B studen and somehow I made a "C" in two of his courses in one semester. His lectures are very vague and his tests are very thorough. His tests are all essay form and if you take Archaeology of Historic N. America you will have to write some impossible final essay. I would never recommend him.

Prof. Brown can be very boring at times but tries his best to crack a few jokes to keep in interesting. As long as you take good notes and study them you can pass the tests, you dont even need a book.

Idiosyncratic at times, occasionally immature. Females stand a better chance with Ken than males do. Knows his stuff--sometimes willing to go out of his way--to help or to hurt.

I took several classes on Historical Archiology. I gave a bid to to some work for a city at several of their historical buildings. The city architect was impressed of my knowledge of artifacts, design, and construction. I got the contract$1500.00. Thx Doc
