Literally show up and take great notes. He says get the book and utilize it- I never did and didn't need to. All test material was from lectures. summer course no homework just three tests which is silly but if you go to every class and take great study notes you're good. he Makes history really interesting!

This man literally lectures for an hour every single day so if you skip one class, you've missed a decade of information. His tests are very intimidating and you won't be happy with your first grade but they will get better. Don't stress about the textbook information, just skim through it. Memorize the information from the lectures

I honestly do not know what these people are talking about. This man is HORRIBLE. Theres only 3 tests and a final. If you fail at least one test theres no hope for you. He doesn't give out homework,extra credit,projects,etc. He doesn't have presentation either he just talk the whole time fast and you will have to take notes. HORRIBLE. Hes hard.

AWESOME! The key is come to class & take notes. Pay attention to anything he repeats or writes on board. He is a storyteller of sorts which makes the sometimes dry material very engaging. I was going to take a different humanities but am opting to take another history of his instead. He's that good! Tests are very "crammable" if you came to class

I enjoyed this class. The lectures were monotonous, but I left the class with knowledge that I was able to apply in subsequent classes. He gives you historical perspectives that are good for critical thinking. Only 3 tests the entire semester. He replaces the tests you miss with the final. I missed 2 tests, still made an A :)

Take him. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss a day, you miss 4-6 pages of notes. He's the most interesting history teacher I've had and paying attention is so easy. He only has four tests, and that's it, and they're very easy if you take good notes and pay attention. Loved his class so much!

Great teacher. Very knowledgeable. He's professional, yet entertaining. He's the type of professor you would expect at a major university. He takes attendance, but if you miss class or arrive late he won't cause a scene or count it against your grade. He gives three tests and a final. There are no papers which I loved. Highly recommended.

Just like previous students have said, if you cannot take good note, then do not take the class. The book is kind of useless if you do know how to take notes, since I do know how, I only opened the book twice. 3 tests and a final, and sometimes he was funny..but real serious, he made me like history again.

If ur not good at note taking,DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I would not say he is a bad teacher but his method of teaching in my opinion is horrible. He lectures mostly and there is no homework just 4 exams.I would recommend to read the book if U cant keep up with him. I had to withdraw from his class.

This is a history class for those who WANT to learn history; it's not a class for people looking for an easy A. I am taking him again for my history class next semester. No homework, quizzes, or papers--just 4 exams. There are a lot of notes, but I would keep the book. It is sometimes hard to keep up, and I use the book to find what I had missed.

Dr. Fenster is a good, quality teacher. He may look very serious at first appearance due 2 his moustache and demeanor, but on the contrary he's very laid back and easy to understand. He's very fair. Take his notes and side comments very seriously b/c that's all you need for exams. Be on time, & be consistent, and you'll make an A+ in HIST 1111.

Fenster Rocks! Go to class EVERYDAY. I am serious. Take excellent notes. You will pass if you read the notes after you leave class every session. You won't need the book if you go to class EVERYDAY and take the notes. Fenster Rocks! He's a walking history book and makes the stories interesting.

If u r a talented note taker, this should be an easy A. I was not good at note taking; therefore, I got a B. I don't <3 his method of grading. However, I <3 HIST; his lecture is like watching a movie. I feel he actually lived with nobles, saw the wars, and attended the meetings of clergy. He was the best teacher I had for history in GPC. He is extremely knowledgeable and easy to follow. His teaching method is blunt, based solely around what he lectures. It truly is an effective way to teach when done by him. I recommend him to all first time students at GPC.
