Comment:
Kroesche can be tough but I've learned that he is doing it to help his students even if they don't realize themselves. He cares about all the instrumental music majors even if you don't play a brass. Yes he is unorganized and late to things sometimes but that's because not only does he run to of the largest ens. but plays in outside groups as well.

Ken may have some good ideas, but his concepts are so slanted one way that it entirely hinders anyone who is not a euphonium student. For my time in his groups I was beaten down being told I had the wrong concepts and ideas. avoid if possible. brass majors: I feel your pain and I'm sorry.

He can sometimes be unorganized, but is responsible for two of the largest ensembles on campus and other chamber groups. He is also responsible for the instruction of all of the low brass students. There are 15 students who all take 1 hour lessons. He is a master musician and a fine gentleman. He challenges his students to be the best they can be.

He treats you like you're an idiot. Prepare to be ignored and under-paid to insanity. If you're not a suck up, or drinking buddies with the graduate assistants, you're a piece of crap. It's nice to feel insignificant, but get 100 percent in the class.

I only had him for pep band but he was really unorganized and if you ever need to email him-don't because he won't respond.

Definitely cares about the music program. That being said, he doesn't seem to really care about the players. We're tools. If you don't play brass he won't pay much attention to you, unless you break one of his rules, then he'll make sure everyone knows you have even if he doesn't mention your name. Don't bother emailing he won't get back to you.

Comment:
Kroesche is very unprofessional. He treats everyone like children, and doesn't care about the feelings and well-being of students. He talks you to death, and ignores the fact that hardly anyone is enjoying anything. He takes the passion out of music. He puts his ego before his students, and causes more harm than he does good. I don't suggest him.

I'm only in pep band, but from the few times that I have talked with him, he was always nice. Yes, he is also very scatterbrained, and his syllabus performance dates are usually wrong, but so what? He's miles better than my high school band teacher, so apparently the complainers on here were trained by saints.

When I first did pep band he was awesome...but over the past two years things have really gone down hill and now he's just a jerk to us. He takes out people not showing up on the people that did and he's always late and gives us no respect for all that we do.

Extremely unprofessional. Teaching methodology not inline with others in department. Believes in negative reinforcement to break you down only to build you up his way.

My God he not only sucks as a conductor but as a person as well. I bugged this man for a month to get me music and a syllabus he said he would copy for me and he never gave me anything. Do not ask this man for anything he doesn't respond back and he never gets it for you. He is very arrogant and is very favorable of BRASS!

This man is a great performer and a great private teacher, but as a conductor/director he has much room to grow. He treats the ensemble like his instrument and wont move to the next problem til he fixes the current one. This leads to very good concerts, but not great ones, cause no one is inspired.

He is extremely scatter-brain. He should not be in the position that he is in. Perhaps he is a good private teacher, but he is definitely not a good administrator teacher of ensembles.
