I think this professor has now retired but I had him this past semester. He heavily relies on powerpoints that he has not updated. The material is actually pretty interesting but he has a belief that his students don't care and dont pay attention. Take good notes because he lets you use them on exams. You write a few papers and he likes group work.

Comment:

Buy the text book - you read from it in class & you need it to add to your notes/understand lessons. You can use your notes on tests so take good notes in & out of class. There are few assigns: 1 speech&paper/1 midterm/1 relationship paper/& the final. He cares about body language/communication/participation & there are a couple group discussions.

Dr. Kleeman truly is a nice and respected man, but his classes got really irritating. We always got off topic and presentations took weeks to finish. Expects you to know everything for exams but hardly ever discusses the actual material.

Irritating! This class is easy;show up because he does not follow his syllabus and he doesn't give you the assignment if you miss. He plays favorites, has zero tact,refuses to admit when hes wrong,always lets students get him off topic,keeps you the entire class,and he waits til the last 4 weeks to assisgn the bulk of the work! Not helpful at all.

Terrible, terrible class. He has the WORSE time management I have ever seen!! Self-introductions took at least 2 weeks for my class and he still assigned us a lengthy group project to do a week before finals. The class was confusing and he seems to grade based on if he likes you or not. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!

I've had him for a few classes. He is VERY serious about writing skills, if you don't have them take someone else. He can be full of himself but he cares deeply for his students & wants to see them succeed and think critically. He's quirky so if you can handle a bit of craziness he becomes quite entertaining.

Very interesting man. He is a good teacher & can be pretty helpful. Can also be condescending if you have a different opinion than him & isn't always very objective. Be prepared to get a bad grade on your 1st paper, unless you're his favorite or had a previous class with him. Has high standards, but doesn't always communicate them well.

There's a lot of writing in this course. If you don't know / aren't willing to learn MLA or if you don't like to write papers, don't take any of his classes. Also, he has very strong opinions on a number of issues. If you challenge him on it, he won't listen to you. Instead, come to class with an open mind. That's the best advice I can give you.

It has been a couple years since I graduated from UCO. I can honestly say now that Kleeman is one of the only teachers at UCO that is truly memorable. I loved his classes, his quirky attitude and the fact that he brought a boars head to campus one day. Those with an open mind will flourish in his classes.

The guy teaches interesting stuff. Go to class and take notes you will be good ! He gets really passionate about some issues and overbearing sometimes. When you ask questions with any kind of opinion in it he will kinda ignore it and Bragg about his works .. But he did make me think about social issues more and when a teacher makes you think his job is done !

My first opinion on Dr. Kleeman was that I didn't like him. He talks a lot about what he's done and about where his successful students are. However my opinion changed. I still think he talks a lot about other things, but I believe he know a lot about his subject. His class isn't the easiest, but it's worth it.

I have a very mixed opinion of Kleeman. He is extremely knowledgeable and published, however, he continually brags about this and it often takes precedence over teaching the course material. He is also quite temperamental, so be prepared. His writing standards are high. You MUST know MLA or APA. All and all, he does care about student's success.

Not the best prof, but he has various methods of teaching which is cool. Study for the tests and you'll make an A or B. As others say, he is very liberal but this is college. I do like how much respect he gives his students. Like they all have the potential to be great. (I think a lot of students will always be stupid, but he respects all people.)

VERY Liberal Professor. He is a good teacher but he shares his opinion in class constantly. He is by far the biggest liberal i've ever met. If you like being asked "when did you decide to be heterosexual" at least 3 times a week by all means take this course. My Advice. Take another professor!

Shame on UCO to let him teach such a negative view of this Dept. This is a required entry course. Personal promotion,soapboxes and negative classification for all media is wrong. This class should encourage a look at all media for a basic knowledge not teach LOVE Thy Neighbor because the media doesn't. Dept needs a better representative!

This class was incredible! Everyone should take this class. It is extremely enlightening and by the end of the semester you feel like an educated person who is more compassionate and tolerant. Dr. Kleeman treats his students with the utmost respect and the class discussions are awesome!
