Comment:
Dr Lefgren is really a great professor and has enjoyable lectures. Every piece of actual information is surrounded by at least five stories and tangents, so you have to pay attention and attend lectures or else you'll be lost trying to do the homework. His tests and quizzes are not hard as long as you've done the homework and been to class.

Super good class! He sheds so much light on how economic research actually works and does so in an interesting way. Assignments are reasonable and he is willing to meet one-on-one and help with any concerns. This will help you understand other 400-level econ classes better.

Dr Lefgren is an amazing professor. He's kind, funny, and great at explaining difficult concepts in a way that makes them tractable.

I'm really grateful he decided to step in and teach 588 in Dr. Frandsen's absence. He taught us a lot of valuable things this semester.

Dr. Lefgren goes out of his way to help students. Very funny and kind. His tests and assignments really teach you how to think critically.

Econ was just a hard class, and I didn't do great. He was a decent guy, but his voice was really boring. It was hard for me to pay attention (which I obviously didn't do a ton of anyway), and Lefgren was a decent teacher and a good guy, but personally, after this class I am more turned off to economics than I am to him.

Funny guy, but this class is not for everyone. Conceptual, but extremely vague on concepts. I did well in 388, but this class is nothing like 388. The entire class is so subjective, because of that, it was extremely difficult. If you can learn to think the way he thinks, you'd do well, if you can't, you suffer.

I don't think there was a single day when I went to class and didn't laugh at something. He's hilarious! It kept momentum and interest going throughout class. Whatever you do, read the book, especially if you miss class. He focuses heavily on using examples to explain material. He's not the best at teaching, but he always answers your questions.

I really enjoyed Lefgren's class. It might not be for everyone though. His lectures are funny, but can be hard to follow since they don't follow a clear structure. Make sure you read the book. I felt like his lectures help you understand after reading, but his tests can be vague or unclear, although he usually adds points after for those errors.

The worst economics proffesor I have ever had. Has lectures are boring, cover things learned in the book, and are disorganized and slow. Really slow. His grade highly depends on the tests, but the tests are awful. Full of ambiguous questions. This class is dificult, not because the material is hard, but it is hard to know what he wants.

Really hard class, but so inspirational. I felt like I learned a ton during every lecture. I left econ 388 with so many questions, and this class answered a lot of those questions. He's an excellent teacher. There's a group project/paper, he gives pop quizzes sometimes, and the required readings are research articles--pretty cool!

Couldn't imagine going through the Economics major without him. He is incredibly funny. His class is tough, but so are all Econ classes. Know all the homeworks, quizzes and practice tests backwards and forwards and you will do well on the exams. One of the best professors I ever took at BYU.

So Dr. Lefgren himself really isn't a hard professor. I think the actual subject of ECON is what's hardest about this class. Econ was extremely challenging and by far the hardest class I took at BYU. He tries his best to change and improve the class during the course of the semester, but the tests are SUPER difficult and the wording is confusing.

Fun class, interesting material, but during the entire semester, it seemed like he wanted us to read his mind. There was no real method or steps to how we were to answer questions. I do recommend taking the class because of the applications, but I wish the course was better designed.

Dr. Lefgren was a great professor, easily one of the easiest ECON classes available and he makes sure that you can laugh consistently. As long as you make sure to put in the work throughout, you should be fine. Be aware that most of your grade comes from the three midterms and the final even though they are not that difficult

Lars is the best. He is one of the most genuine professors and his dry sense of humor is absolutely hilarious. His Econ 110 class is way easier than Kearl's or Pope's. Do the homework and keep up on the reading and you will be just fine.

Its ECON 110, so what can you really expect? Professor Lefgren is probably the easier way to go for this class as far as homework. Tests are challenging, lots of assignments, but he is fair about the grading. Professor Lefgren teaches well, but sometimes has a hard time articulating the principles clearly. Has a pretty funny, dry sense of humor.

Easily the best professor in the Economics department . Dr. Lefgren's teaching style is engaging and interesting, not to mention entertaining. He takes the time to learn your name and get to know you. The class is tough, but you can certainly succeed if you put in the time. Dr. Lefgren is one of BYU's best.

He was generally disorganized, thus you can't really see where you are in the class as you go. We always got points back on tests because they have ambiguous questions he made up he felt bad for, mixed with online questions you may or may not have gotten on hw. Nice person, just doesn't seem to prepare much for the course.
