Can be very entertaining in class. Likes to use the board instead of powerpoints so make sure to write it down before it gets erased. He can be difficult if you get lost, but he'll definitely try to get you back on class. All work and tests are online except for the final. Definitely an enjoyable professor if you can keep up. I'm not a chem person.

I can't stress it enough, TAKE HIS LAB if you are in General Chemistry 1 or 2. I took him for general chemistry 1 lab. I was worried the lab was going to be tough, but he made it very enjoyable and made lab an incredible experience. You'll learn a lot, and have a lot of fun. Just take correct precautions and do your work. He is not a tough grader.

I dont understand a lot of the negative reviews on here, Dr. Ter Haar was awesome. He lectures and goes over procedures very briefly before allowing you to just finish up the work at your leisure. He is eager to help and truly makes lab enjoyable. Hes not a tough grader either. Just use your notebook and be safe, he will call you out otherwise.

Awesome professor! Tests are online and pretty straight forward. He is super easy going and lets lecture out early almost every time. I would 100% take him again!

I took his Chemistry Lab class. He's going to seem like a real strict professor at first. Don't be fooled, if you put in the effort and follow directions, it's really an easy A. He cares enough to explain throughout the lab and even prepares you for exams. It was never the end of the world when lab equipment broke or a reaction went wrong.

Dr. T has to be one of my favorite teachers i've ever had. He is the complete opposite of the teacher everyone is describing him as. Read your book, do the homework problems in the book, do your mastering chem HW, and listen to lecture. He's put al his tests online this semester and gives you two hours to do it. I would highly recommend taking him!

Awesome guy, I'm terrible at Chem and he really broke it down in such a way that even someone as bad as I am could understand. I would definitely take him again.

I was in his Chem lecture class this past semester and it honestly wasn't to bad. 3 exams online so you can look it all up, the final was in class and easy and the usual mastering chem homework every week which wasn't to bad. All his lectures are is a bunch of examples of problems from the book. He is very nice, approachable and funny.

He has moved away from powerpoint slides and does many examples and explanations in class. If you are struggling and need help, he is available and willing to show you what you are doing incorrectly. Very heavy on using the website for tests and homework. Overall, he is a great professor and I would recommend him.

Please don't listen to the students from December of 2009. It is absolutely ridiculous. He lets you have notecards on his tests... Notecards. He gives practice tests and you can have a cheat sheet. If you study for this class you will get an A. If you don't study for this class you will not. So is life.

Just do the work. Chemistry is not hard but you have to stay on top of the subject because it builds through 2 semesters. No matter who your professor is do the homework and the pretest and you will do well. It's that simple.

WORST teacher ever. Better have the textbook because you will be teaching yourself everything in this class. His tests are extremely hard. If he gives you a practice test beforehand DO IT because thats the only way you'll survive. Its professors like him that make you reconsider your major.

He's just a textbook tough teacher. His job is to weed out freshman and such that aren't serious about Chemistry. If you're serious and you study hard, you'll stay a float. His grade assignments are on a pure bell curve, so do better than everyone else. His notes are straight out of the book, so highlight away. Tough, but you learn your stuff cold.

Outstanding teacher - in the sense that he stands out as the most condescending, arrogant, disrespectful prof I've had in my life.

I noticed everyone posting had him for lower grades. I had him for Physical Chemistry (3000 level) and he's the reason I left UWF with a B.A. in Philosophy. He is incredibly tough, and a lousy teacher...yet another for the UWF Chem Dept.

I got more from reading the book then the lectures...scratch that the lectures were basically him reading the book. He shows more enthusiam with high level subjects, so I assume he teaches higher level courses better. He does the bell curve though, so the class isn't impossible to pass.
