He was a really good teacher at statistics 320. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to take this class or who wants to take this class. he gives you notes and his notes are based on his homework so it is extremely helpful. We barely used to book. I did not even open the book for the whole summer quarter because his notes were enough...

This class was alot easyier than the other stats class that I took from another teacher. I would recommend you take this class. He is monotone though but it doesnt take away from his knowledge about the subject.

Hands down the best! Dr. Stern could teach stats to a post... those of us who have limped through "adequate" stats classes know what we're talkin' about... A nice man too. And monotone? I'd say soothing... stats makes people all tense to begin with... a mellow professor is a blessing!

Comment:

Had him over the summer for Memory and Cognition as well as CSBS 320. Taking good notes is important. Seemed to list test topics day before test, so we knew what to study. Very interesting teacher--tons of experience in memory research and a really good stats teacher. Lectures a bit monotone, but that's OK :)

His voice is monotonous, but his lectures are somewhat organized. He gives reasonable homework assignments. He answers questions from students. I was not always sure what he wanted me to do, but he is a good teacher overall.

i was worried about stats class, but he made it so easy. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANY OTHER TEACHERhomework due every thur. & quiz every fri. very easy. midterm was easy and final is take home. i'm not over exagerrating. i never got anything below a 90

Dr. Stern lays it all out on a silver platter. Impossible to not do well if you show up for class. I wish he taught Calculus- he does everything detailed step by step. Best instructions I have ever seen.

I think He is totally cute in his sweaters and button up shirts, in that old man kinda way. He is a very quiet professor, so make sure you sit close. there are weekly quizzes and homework, His class is set up to keep students on top of their grades!!
