When you first start off in Chem 175 you will be very intimidated of Jones, thats just how he is. Once you get to know him, you will learn to love him. He teaches Chemistry in a very understandable way, and if you go out of your way to receive help, he will take the time to help you. By the end of Chem 176 he'll be your favorite dude.

Sometimes he is incredibly judgmental, but other times he is kind and helpful. Attending study tables is necessary. He does not really help if you go to his office. Having him for lab makes you feel kind of dumb, especially if you don't understand the lab technique.

He is a good teacher, but very hard and does not like to give individual help. You must attend study tables and do outside homework, even though it is for no credit. Be careful on lab reports, he catches for plagiarizing, even when you do not mean it.

Loved Jones, this class is beyond fair. As in any college level class: you must see him with questions, do all of the homework and make sure you understand ALL applications of the concepts. He cares about all of his students and is very understanding. He does play favorites, however he favors anyone who takes the time to learn the material.

He makes chem so much harder than it is, plus he's a real jerk. He's mean and treats you as if you're an idiot if you don't sit in the front row. I transferred and had to re-take gen chem, and it's so much easier with a DECENT professor. Steer clear of this idiot if you can. Here's a tip: TRANSFER OUT OF SJC before your GPA is ruined by idiot profs

weekly quizes like clockwork, the exams are cumulative and rather difficult. labs correspond to the course well, but equally as difficult. make sure you complete homework, despite him not checking it. although he may be clear on the course outcomes, he makes you feel like an inferior pion when you ask questions, but he expects you to stay after as much as possible until you understand the work.
