Easy class consist of weekly quizzes using lockdown browser. You must buy the textbook because that is where the quiz questions come from. She provides a study guide for all the quizzes and there is no final. She takes attendance randomly 8 times throughout the semester.

Dr. Whitaker is an incredibly kind person. She gives very fun and engaging lectures with really interesting content and videos. YOU MUST BUY HER TEXTBOOK!! It is rewritten each semester so beware of that. She grades based off of weekly LOCKDOWN BROWSER canvas quizzes and attendance - NO EXAMS! Solid choice for freshmen - she will help you grow.

This was the easiest class I've ever taken. Your grade is based on attendance (taken eight times throughout semester), open-book at-home quizzes, and participating in class twice. If you need to take SOC101, take her.

No final exam. Just 13/14 quizzes and they're due every Friday. She goes over some material in class but expects you to find some info on your own. There are study guides for required readings and you watch the videos in class (also have study guides). Quizzes were both easy and hard but if you put in a little work, you'll be fine.

An easy A. Go to class and I recommend making friends. There are alot of online Quizzes. We used the book every once in a while, but you do need the book for certain quizzes. *Class is boring for upperclassmen* Outside of class, she is a WONDERFUL lady! Freshmen should get to know her. She is very supportive.

Literally killed my scholarship because her TAs can't write my name down for one of two participations, and it's my fault because I didn't catch it in 2 days before she usually has them in anyways. Really cool lecturer but horrible and unhelpful and mean 1 on 1

Very easy class. There is no final. There's one quiz a week solely based on study guides on readings or videos we watch in class. There's barely any readings from the textbook, and you can usually find the articles online or answers in the weekly powerpoints. You have to participate twice in the semester, and attendance is taken on random days.

Super easy A. She makes you buy a super-thin paperback textbook that she wrote herself for $112 (not worth it). You take open-note online quizzes every week. If you miss one, there's a makeup interval at the end. You should always go to class because attendance is randomly graded and she did the splits one day. Participate 2 times every semester.

Ms. Whitaker was my absolute favorite professor this semester. Her class is very easy to follow, she only takes attendance six or seven times, you only have to participate two times the whole semester and she is so nice and understanding. Take her class!!

DO NOT (and I cannot stress this enough) BUY THE $112, 99 PAGE TEXTBOOK!!!!! She puts everything that you need to pass the quizzes in her powerpoints. If you do the study guides and show up to class, you will get 100% in the class. There is no midterm or final, just weekly quizzes and an extra credit opportunity or two.

The class is very easy, and the lectures are alright. One quiz every week, but you have the option to take some at the end if you weren't ready to take or have life situations, and no points get taken off. You only use the book like twice, so I wouldn't recommend buying it. Everything you need is in the powerpoint and study guides.

Easiest class. Each Friday there was an online quiz that's open notes so you should use the study guides she gives you because ALL of the test questions come from the study guides. You're required to participate in class twice all semester and attendance is taken 7 random times. Also we ALWAYS got out of class early, like usually 30 min early.

Absolutely awful class. She is a very nice person but the lectures are either just hour long videos or meaningless discussion by random students which don't help you learn. Every week is a quiz which aren't easy because the questions she gives you don't have specific answers or the readings are a mess. Should've dropped the class, don't take it.

Good class for an easy A. If you want to learn in depth about sociology, don't take it. This class is all lectures and videos, no interactional learning.

SOC101 with Professor Whitaker is one of the most effortless classes I've ever taken. Most lectures are simply videos, but you need to go every time as attendance is graded. The class feels like it's oriented to freshmen just coming in to college. If you're wanting to take this class to learn about sociology, I do not recommend this professor.

Took class over summer as a session A course and I would say that there will be a lot of reading + video watching that you will HAVE TO do as the exams ask specific word by word questions taken from both readings AND videos. Only issue w/ the class was that the tests sometimes asked insignificant questions that had nothing to do w/ sociology.

I am an A student, so I thought I would be okay taking this course over the summer. Trust me when I say that if you have an option to not take this class, do it. I wish that I would have withdrawn because this class is way too much work and too hard for a 101 class. DO NOT TAKE IT.

Attendance is graded, and so is participating twice during the semester. There are no tests of finals, only quizzes, and all the lecture slides and articles are posted online. She let us out early almost every class period, and as long as you do the study guides the weekly quizzes are fairly straightforward. She's a good choice for SOC101

I had Lisa last semester for another course and I liked her so much I took her again. This class is an easy A. You choose a social movement with your preassigned group, complete six easy tasks throughout the semester ( give or take 200 words relating to a concept learned) and then put it all on a powerpoint at the end. Just show up to class.
