This is the absolute worst professor ever in the English Department. If you think you are a great writer , you will be proven wrong. If you are a solid A or B student, prepare for the worst. This professor will drag down your gpa and you wont pass. dont bother going to his office hours or the writing center either. Extremely pretentious .

Comment:

I love Kermode! He's a great teacher that's passionate on the subjects he teaches. I took him for British Lit & Shakespeare. Just make sure you do the readings because we had a quiz on each text. Go to class & study for the exams, and you'll do well! Get ready to recite a sonnet in front of the class, which is actually fun!

Comment:

One of the funniest, and overall best, professors I've ever taken. He is a really easy professor if you plan on working. If you don't want to do the reading close enough for 7 quizzes and a paper then don't take him. He makes all of the material really entertaining but you definitely gotta work for your grade for the midterm and final.

Kermode knows his stuff, and it shows. Stay focused, keep up with the readings, and you'll do just fine. Expect many quizzes on the readings. His British humor is pretty cool, too.

This class was way too much. He assigns SO much reading & it feels like he just tries to cram everything into your head and he teaches to the test so much. I feel like I've learned hardly anything in this class because I was so busy memorizing everything for the next test. Also, if you don't turn everything in (even if it's late) he'll fail you.

Kermode was awesome. He is intimidating at first, and I was put off by his arrogance, but he warmed up a lot towards the middle of the sem. He knows his stuff and his feedback is great. Allows EC and class was always a good time. Made Shakespeare interesting.

This class is no joke..come prepared everyday ready to discuss the assigned reading. Prior to the class, I had not interest in Shakespeare. Kermode's enthusiasm and knowledge on the subject made this class very enjoyable. Submit your best work, participate in class, ask questions, and do well on your quizzes. One of the best professors--enjoy!

Very polite and funny prof. Seemed to always smell of fabric softner. Class was interesting and engaging. Tells very funny "British" jokes that i did not get due to my lack of British-ness. Thought me how to love again.

One of the most brilliant and charismatic professors at State. He does joke around a lot and though his jokes are silly and British humor esque, his knowledge and passion for his subject is refreshing. Go to class, raise your hand, do the reading and you'll do well. He's super cute too

I enjoyed the class. He's not that hard, but you do have to put some thought into your work. He doesn't look like Hugh Grant at all so I don't know where that's coming from, but he's pretty hot in his own right.

Kermode is, well, Kermode. He's a bit cerebral, but he's also in a band so ask him how it's going. He's always been nice to me when I've had a question or needed help. He appreciates effort, so that helps with the GPA.

Very arrogant...wastes class time by talking about things that are irrelevant and laughing at his own jokes...Also, never ask him for a letter of recommendation. He will make you and himself look ridiculous...He is certainly very knowledgable but not as much as he thinks he is...not very helpful...nevertheless, he is a very nice person.

Comment:

One of the most well-versed renaissance professors on campus. Essay grading is not that hard and he does seem to appreciate effort even when quality is not excellent. You will need to be up on your reading. Tests are difficult at first but then get easier when you learn what he wants. Great/Hard teacher, take him and get your $'s worth.
