Comment:

Margheim knows what he's talking about. He's a good teacher teaching boring subjects. Tests make up over 80% of your grade and the cumulative final is brutal. Definitely wants to see you succeed and is willing to help you. IF you put in the effort to actually learn the content, the class is doable.

Comment:

Margheim is a good teacher. He may not be the most interesting lecturer, but he really teaches you. The take home quizzes are exactly what's on the exams and you can go to office hours to check answers. He is incredibly nice, especially during office hours. He is really passionate about accounting and presents the material in such a clear way.

Margheim is like the goofy grandpa that is really excited about accounting. There are 3 tests, 1 final and take home quiz for each chapter. Go to office hours so you can check your answers on the quiz. Tests aren't so bad, it's like the examples we do in class. Get gleim for the MC on the test tho.

Comment:

Margheim is a great guy, his class is very fair and he has clear expectations. The work you put in generally relates to your grade, so keep up with his weekly chapter quizzes (go to office hours with questionshe tells you what to fix). Wish I put more work into the class, but study plenty for tests and retain as much for the CPA.

Monotone, Boring, very difficult to follow. I spent more time learning the material on my own, then I ever have. Final made me want to cry. Study the take home quizzes. He often throws curveballs at you. If you don't 1000000% understand the material, you won't do well at all.

Terribly monotone but nonetheless a great professor. You will learn a lot during lectures with the workbook rather than the actual textbook. Come exam time, pull out Gleim because you will find some word for word questions in the midterms and final.

Lots of material and the midterms are long. We had 2.5 full notebooks of material instead of 1. He speaks unnecessarily loud during lecture and sounds like a robot but is very knowledgeable. Too much focus on the non-controlling interest in consolidated net income and the worksheet stuff.

Dr. Margheim is by far the most effective accounting professor at USD. His lecture notes are the best of any class I have taken. The lectures may not be riveting, but he teaches very well. The homework is very helpful for exam preparation. The material is difficult, but if you go to class, pay attention, and do the homework, you will learn tons.

Margheim is extremely nice and helpful. Textbook is unnecessary, his lecture notes have everything you need. The material is somewhat difficult but he's good at explaining and helping you if you need it. There was very little homework and a few exams - he gives practice problems in class that help a lot.

Hard class, and Margheim does a great job! His lecture notes are fabulous, and he does lots of in-class examples. There are take-home quizzes and the ever-sucky Wiley Plus online homework. Lotsa work, but you get out of this class what you put into it.

Dry lectures...but he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. All quizzes are take-home and can be compared to the correct answers beforehand. He has a very generous grading scale. Great teacher....he's the epitome of an "accountant".

An extension of Int. Acct 1. Margheim is definitely more thorough than Hora, but his personality is so dry that class becomes unbearable at times. Very hard to get an A, but should be at least a B. If you need the backup points, you can always tutor at the accounting lab. Oh yea, he doesn't know how to grade research papers for the life of him!

Prof. Margheim is one of the best teachers in the USD school of business. He is very organized (which means minimal note taking since his lecture notes are published for you), and he clearly explains difficult material. Tests are challenging, but then again, so is the CPA exam.

Margheim is by far the most organized accounting teacher at USD. He gets up and absolutely runs through the material. However, if you pay attention you will learn a lot. I am currently studying for the CPA and I remember a lot of the stuff that he went over. Please don't listen to those who say he is boring because you learn your stuff.
