Comment:

Bohorquez is so sweet! Instead of a typical lecture class, shes switched over to teaching in group settings. You work with a group of your choosing & complete problems out of a workbook. Its important to ask questions because youre learning this yourself & shes there to answer questions. I highly recommend going to her office hours & tutoring!

Comment:

This year she switched from a lecture style to a group work approach. You need to show up daily to work with your group to solve workbook problems. Online homework is short but helps boost your grade a lot. She gives a list of learning objectives for every exam and final. Overall sweet little Argentinian women who cares about every student's grade.

Professor Bohorquez genuinely cares about each student, and it shows. She is amazing at explaining the material, and answering questions. It is also obvious how much she loves chemistry, which makes it easier to understand the material. The material may be a bit tricky, but go to Supplemental Instruction! She will love to help you!

Comment:

She is the cutest thing on the entire planet. Her accent is NOT difficult and she is so enthusiastic about chemistry. My tip is to attend EVERY SI session and go to her office hours frequently. She posts a "study guide", write down what you know and then ask her in office hours what you don't. Do both book problems and practice problems!! AMAZING!

Comment:

This professor is debatably one of the smartest professors I have had. I took Maria the second semester of my first year. My first semester was taken with Dr. Henderson whos grading style is much easier than Dr. Bohorquez, which was a mistake to go from easy to a hard professor. You will learn a ton in this class, but the tests are hard.

Dr. Bohorquez is super cute in a grandma type way. She does well to explain things in class and will really help you out of class. However, her tests are all math. If you cant work through them you're gonna fail. And make sure you study everything on the study guides and do the book problems otherwise you will be studying the wrong thing.

Dr. Bohorquez was an amazing lab teacher that really genuinely cares that you understand the material. She is very approachable and always willing to help no matter how difficult or easy the concept. Overall a very good lab instructor.

Really nice and really caring professor, and very passionate about teaching. This was a pretty straight forward class that Dr. Bohorquez taught well. I can't speak for her performance as a gen chem professor, but in the small group setting of this upper level course she was great.

Professor Bohorquez made getting up early for an 8am lecture more bearable. She was always full of energy and truly wants her students to succeed, but effort is needed on your part.

Bohorquez is a great woman. Gen chem is hard but she will take the time out of her day to go over it with you in-depth. She has an accent, but it's not difficult to understand. She really cares and gets really excited about what she's teaching. I would take her for all my science classes if I could.

Liked her at the first. Although she is kind and willing to help students, it's just it. The test is really nothing to do with the lecture & and it's hard as a hell.. If you are in the pharmacy program, well you will get tons of stress from this class since it's really hard to get a good score.

She is a kind person and if you come to her she will help you even though it seems like she doesn't want to that's just her persona. She has an accent so it takes some getting used to. You definitely have to study outside of class. A lot. Otherwise you will not pass her tests. I would not take a class with her again though.

Dr. Bohorquez made my life way easier. Whenever I had a hard time, she always helped me out til I understood it completely. Her lectures were at 8am, but made majority of students come to her class everyday. Web assignments are mandatory, and they're very helpful to prepare for the exams. She is such a sweet woman, you'll definitely love her.

Bohorquez is very passionate about chemistry, and surprisingly made her 8 am pretty entertaining. On the other hand it is a hard subject so you will have to work for the grade. Online hw actually matters so make sure it is done, but she will help you out. My online assignment did not work one week so she reopened it during finals so I could do it.

Dr. Bohorquez is a really great teacher! She takes her time to fully explain topics and will answer any questions you have. I found it helpful to read the book before the lecture because she follows along pretty well from the book and does a good job clarifying topics the books may have been more confusing.

She has high expectations for you in higher-level courses (I took biophysical chem), but is very willing to help you work through problems you encounter. I really liked her teaching style, she explains everything multiple ways and encourages questions and discussion. My class was small, however - probably was more her speed than a large lecture.

she is funny and definitely likes teaching. her lectures are based on powerpoints straight from the book, so it's much more helpful to read the book to study. however you still have to go to class to use the clickers because those points are part of your grade
