Comment:

I've never done bad in a sociology class, but this class is hard. We are only graded on test, a paper (doesn't even go over the paper!), & random class assignments. When students asks questions about the test, she gets attitudes. It's a problem when NEARLY EVERYONE does horrible on your test, right? Well she doesn't look at it that way.

Comment:

Due to some reviews on Dr. Chamberlin I was weary on taking her. Yes, she is political but her politics are tolerable. She gives plenty of easy to gain points, but her quizzes/exams can be challenging and require careful studying. While she is not the easiest professor in the world I personally do well with her and will be taking her again.

Chamberlin is awesome, I had her for marriage and family, and I learned so much. I made like a 103 in her class. You HAVE to go to class in order to get the notes, because the her tests are all on class notes. Do not bother opening the book. Plus the last two weeks, she gives extra credit almost every class.

I have her for family violence and I will never take her for another class again. She has no structure to her class whatsoever. I know like 3 people who literally never even go, because you don't have to. She put's the notes online, and basically just reads them aloud to you in class and throws out a bunch of statistics for you to write down

I'm not sure what the other people are talking about, because I really liked her. I had another teaacher for a couple of weeks that was really hard for me to follow. Due to his illness, she took over. She explained things really well and made class fun. Tests are hard, but if you study some you'll do well.

VERY boring. VERY ****. Spent most of her time talking about her daughter. Her tests are real ball busters. Not necessarily hard but you had to write and write and write. You'll need wrist surgery when you're finished. Lectures made very little sense and she would spend entire class periods talking to one or two students. Her pets, I guess.

I got her as a teacher 1/2 way through the semester because my previous teacher became ill. I was nervous, but she was cool and easy to get along with. She was helpful and made discussions interesting. Class is not mandatory and all the notes are on Webcat. Tests are not extremely easy but if you take notes and pay attention you will get an A.

Chamberlin ROCKS! I think the people who didn't give her a favorable rating is because they don't get Sociology. She is not hard, she makes class and the subject interesting, and her tests are exactly what she lectures on. She is the professor that inspired me to add Sociology as another major. I am not sure why these people say what they do becuase yes, her tests are hard but she mentions all the information in her lectures. You don't have to come to class and you get credit for all the in class assignments. Her class might not be the easiest but this is college..what are you expecting? She is a good teacher if you are up to doing work.

She made trying to learn Soc. practically impossible. I was so bored in class that I couldn't focus, and so I ended up basically teaching myself. And when I asked questions about the paper we had, she dodged them. I would NOT recommend taking her class!

I don't know what the other folks are talking about. She does, indeed, lecture and her tests are suitably challenging. She's a feminist, yes. But it's the social system of our country and not she, herself, that points at men for a lot of the problems. She makes people think and probably become uncomfortable with their own biases.

Absolute worst professor on earth. Doesn't lecture at all & is really hard to follow. Exams are extremely tough and half the time the stuff wasn't in lecture OR the book. You have to be psychic to know what she wants in her classes. Stay FAR, FAR away from this one!

Tough class. Basically you have to take notes and memorize stuff and apply it as you spit out her ideas back to her. Her tests are essays and they are kind of tough. FEMINIST WARNING!
