Lots of assigned reading and he just lectures in class but very interesting lectures. Hes passionate and clever. Exams would end up having 30 page study guides but if you wanna learn then this is the class

Professor Souva is very kind and knowledgeable. The big lecture setting, especially at the elementary course level, doesn't put his talents to good use it's hard to hear him or keep interested in the lecture, but he's a great professor. I found the textbook to be very useful.

Dr. Souva is an extremely intelligent professor. The lectures can be long and the tests are pretty difficult, but if you go to class and do all of the readings, then you will do well.

Comment:
Dr. Souva is the head of the graduate program for International Affairs so teaching a freshman international affairs course ? Yeah, he can be a little difficult. His lectures are not too interesting as his voice is very monotone, but he really is interested in what he teaches. In the big lecture class, he would randomly take attendance.

Random attendance, 3 tests (pretty easy), lectures exactly like the textbook. If you read the textbook and utilize the textbook website you'll do fine.

Dr.Souva is an amazing professor. He will work with you in office hours, he curved every test, and he makes the subject interesting. If you can get passed that he can sound monotone he is actually pretty funny. Make sure you actually study for the tests though. This isn't just an easy A class.

Dr. Souva is honestly a really nice guy. Even though his office hours are limited, he's always available to help. The tests are extremely difficult, not matter how much you study. You will always miss something from the reading. Make sure you read the book and know it inside and out! The extra credit from the attendance saved my grade.

I wish I knew where these exam questions come from because you can study everything and still not know some of these questions. Very difficult to understand in lecture.

For an intro class, this was very hard and ruined my high GPA even though I went to class every day. That being said, Souva's a great professor and very experienced in the field which makes you more interested in what he has to say.

Okay, yes, this class is pretty hard. I don't think it's fair that your grade is three tests I'm a straight A student and I felt a little cheated - but Professor Souva is a great teacher! His knowledge about this subject field is immense and for those who are like me and are interested in international affairs you definitely learn a lot!

Powerpoints are available online, but are sometimes not completely filled out which forces you to attend class to get the full notes. He takes attendance and uses that as extra points towards your grade so make sure to go. There are 3 exams all semester. READ THE TEXTBOOK because it will help you on exams more than his lectures will.

Honestly, he means well. He's a very nice person. He even curved our test 25 points. But see that's the thing: I would have failed without the curve and I've never made below a 90 in anything in my life. Without the curve I would have made a 57. Be warned, his lectures go on tangents and get confusing. Read the book. Wish me luck!

This class is by far the most boring class I have ever taken. The teacher tries to liven it up, but he take too much time explaining things that could be explained in a few minutes. His power point slides are not filled out so they aren't exactly helpful. Attendance is not mandatory and I find the book more helpful than the teacher.

one of the best professors FSU has to offer. The readings are nothing short of great. They are great books/arcticles and really cause the reader to think about the subject at hand. His insight into the readings offer a great deal for the students who show up to class and want to learn. This being said, hes classes are not the easiest.

The most straight-forward professor I've ever had. His lectures, elaborations of powerpoint slides, are direct clarifications of the readings. His tests are essays, and they are graded fairly. My favorite teacher of the semester. He is approachable and funny. A girl in my class described him as "adorable".

This class is really hard for an intro class BUT you really dont have to go to class. Read the book cover to cover and youll do good. It's really not as bad as everyone says that it is. Quiz once a week so you do have to read the chapter but it helps you for the tests. Its a really interesting class if you put the time into it.
