I graduated in 97 and was blessed enough to have experienced Dr. Marvin LaHood's classes. Anyone looking to change the way they feel about reading novels (for the better) should take any of his classes. Dr. LaHood is inspirational, exciting, lively and deep all at the same time. He is the kind of teacher every student should experience!!

best teacher I ever had, I took every class I can honestly say he changed my life. He "flipped a switch" on inside my head, one that I didn't t know was even there, the desire for more knowledge. "there's things you find in books that you can't find anywhere else" thats what he said, and Dr. Lahood you were right, thank you for flipping the switch

I was a student of Marv's in the late 90's. He is a passionate educator who is not afraid to hold back in the name of educating (you can either love him or hate him for his outspokenness, but he makes you think and that is the point of a college education). Marv was a big influence in my life and a true mentor.

I had him last year at D'youville college and his is the best professor hands down. It is sort of like a Dr.Cox and John Dorian thing like on scrubs, only all the students are JD and everyone just loves him. it is the best class you will ever take.

I do not disagee that he's an amazing teacher, but God help you if you don't agree with him. He preached that he didn't want "blind followers" but if you didn't spit his words back to him on tests, he wouldn't give you a good grade. A very entertaining class.

Dr. LaHood was such a great guy, and he made the Short Story course a lot of fun with his energetic style! There was only one $8 paperback book for the class, and only 2 in-class exams (midterm/final)...no papers in sight. Sadly no longer teaching though; now works in Bulger.
