To get an A beware quizzes and test have to be an A average, All 5 papers have to be accepted, take a departmental exam over aims and modes, must write a b paper and then write an A paper. 8 papers all together. She is very helpful- wants you to be a better writer, gives wonderful feedback, helps during office hours, the best professor ever. 25 yrs

This English professor is amazing. She is very helpful at giving feedback to all 5 papers, 4 pop quizzes ( 1 syllabus, 2 on 4 types of writing, 1 on plagiarism) and 2 tests. She has writing paper workshops. She is determined to help you understand the 4 types of writing (aim/mode) and 4 characteristics to be prepared for the departmental exam..

If you plan to take this class only, go ahead because it won't let you study anything else. Exaggerated amount of reading, quizzes, and writing. If you also like the old school teaching method, I highly recommend it. Professor doesn't listen to her students. She's anything but a sweet old lady. She's tough and demanding.

I've learned a lot from Prof. Haley. English has never been my favorite subject. However, the readings she assigned for her class were surprising and very interesting. I sincerely, enjoyed the material. She definitely has opened my eyes for the subject. Read, get your writing done, so she can check it and you can correct and get that A.

Great professor lectures are short and to the point. Gives great feedback, approachable, very friendly and helpful. Once you turn in an essay she gives you the exact errors you made so you learn how to correct them, so the faster it is corrected the faster the essay gets accepted. Overall she was a great professor. Would take again!

Prof. Haley is a very sweet lady, and a great professor. Her class has a very clear grading criteria; the syllabus states the A,B&C "plans" and how to achieve that grade. Class participation/attendance depends on the grade you want. Towards the end of the semester attendance isn't required, depending on your plan. Overall, its easy and manageable.

The class is relatively boring but Prof. Haley assigns diverse and interesting readings. Honestly do your work, show up for every class, and read the stories before the classes and the A is yours. The grading system is basically pass/fail if you're shooting for it. Pro Tip: Don't buy the books, all the stories are public domain. Good Luck!

Prof Haley is fantastic. She's such a nice woman and really knowledgeable on her subject. For a dull subject such as analytical short story analysis, she has a great way of drawing anyone's interest by having a wide variety of stories. She gives great feedback. The grading system is the "accepted, edit, rewrite" system. Quiz grades matter.

Let me start by saying that I am an avid writer. This professor was a perfect fit for me. She gave excellent and very constructive pointers to improve my writings. Every paper I wrote for her challenged me, but in the end, I had a great time putting in the effort to finish strong. I can't recommend enough! Take any class she's teaching!

Doing well on Professor Haley's pop quizzes are the only way to get a good grade in this class. Papers are "accepted" and not graded, so, even if you do well on them and get a high C average on the quizzes, there's no way to get an A or a B. She is very strict on formatting papers even if it contradicts what any other professor/teacher has told you

Do NOT procrastinate in this class fellow procrastinators! Deadlines matter in this class!!! Read the reading assignments & pay attention - you'll be quizzed - the quizzes determine what grade you can attempt (if your quiz avg is below a 90 you can't write the A paper). She's always willing to help with concepts you don't understand. Good luck!

She is an awesome teacher and I would take her again, but be warned her grading system is different. You will have to write 7 papers, plus a departmental exam to make a C. To make an A (or B) in the class you have to at least an 90 (or 80) on your pop quiz average to be eligible to write the A/B papers. If you miss a quiz, you get a zero auto...

Haley seems intimidating at first but she's harmless. There are five required papers, a final that determines whether or not you pass the class, and two optional papers that decide whether you get an A or B in the class. Don't be afraid to go up to her with questions or just a need for more clarity! Tough paper grader, but I'd take her class again.
