Comment:

Hybrid class She consistently goes off on tangents. The lectures are mandatory but all she does is complain about laws and people. The work is done outside of class. Weekly readings w/ quizzes as well as 500-1000 word written assignment. Not a difficult class if you stay on top of it. I cant stress enough that the lecture are mind numbing.

This class was flat out terrible. There was a ton of work to do every week, and rather then lecture the material, she goes on these tangents and just complains. The only reason I will remember this class will be due to how much I did not like it.

I'm honor. 2 Cornell notes wk for 2 textbook. Meet2times&1Canvas quiz wk. Every student prepare 1wk seminar in group&1 group research project. 2exams&1final all test on Canvas. She often cut in and talk a lot during seminar. 3hr office hr wk. ToughHW but down to earth,be mental prepared if want take her for honor.

Comment:

So I took this class online and it was definitely a lot of work but I wouldn't say its completely unmanageable. She expects A LOT from you so get ready to study your butt off and I would not recommend taking this class your first quarter or two of college it's not an easy one. All in all, the subject was interesting just a ton of info!

Mieke's first language is not English and that comes with a heavy accent that makes it almost impossible to understand what she's saying. Her lectures were never helpful and always drifted from the subject. So much reading to complete assignments. Tests were impossible and long.

heavy work load but very manageable. Online was pretty easy, work in the online textbook and a quiz each week. She gives you good study guides but be careful trying to cut corners in he assignments, she takes plagiarism/cheating very seriously.

This class was very hard especially considering she hardly ever talked or lectured instead she assigns you to groups and has you teach the material each week. Her tests and quizzes are REALLY hard and she is never clear on what she wants from them, even when you go to her office and ask. I would not recommend if you don't have to take it.

She was super fun, very pretty and easy to understand. She was very supportive and gave the most help possible. She is flexible and understanding that things happen and gives you all the tools to succeed. I recommend taking this class if you want to learn and pass.

I've taken two classes with Meike and I find that she is a great professor. But I know some do not enjoy her style of teaching. Her classes are a mix of seminar/lecture. Each week there is a reading, hw and a quiz. Some weeks you double up which means double the work. Meet the criteria and you'll get a good grade. One of my harder classes taken.

As others have said, she has no flexibility even if the $100 online only textbook website is down. It is down a lot. She expects 10 hours of time spent for each exam but she announces the exams a couple days early instead of a week or two ahead. She also will go the whole quarter assigning consistant work and one week it will just be triple amount.

By far a challenge to take this course on line exclusively. Tests are very detailed in testing student knowledge of information in assigned chapters. She certainly does not give good grades for minimal amount of work or late work. Will appropriately award good work with good grades . Work hard and you will be pleased with your grade.

Meike, is the most un-caring professor or teacher for that matter I have ever had! She has a major god complex! If the site is down and won't let you complete your work, she says its not her problem! She does not allow you to view grades until the course is over! She is the only professor at SFCC that teaches polo sci, She should be fired!

I took her my second quarter of college and she was tough. She was very helpful though. Willing to help you with anything you need and teaches you about life outside of america. I like that just to see what the other parts of the world is like. Hard to read her hand writing but you can follow along easy.

Look, Meike's class is tough. But I'm telling you, you will not regret taking this class. You might not understand what she is talking about yet, give it a few more quarters of college and you will. I appreciate everything I've learned from her. Just do the work and don't complain too much. She is an awesome person.

Very informative class. If you do the work you will get a good grade. Passionate teacher that cares about what she is doing. Funny once you get to know her. The class may be intimidating at first, but after the first week you will fall into the routine. Would definitely take again.
