She is awful! Nice person. BORING lectures. No power points or anything. Just her talking and walking around with a white board marker. She doesn't allow any cell phones and f its seen docks participation points. Very hard class. Lots of reading. Boring texts. Hard to stay awake in her class. Very strict.

Comment:

I thought this class was very easy. She explains material in depth during class, and towards the end I was putting off the reading until the day of the test and still getting around 100%. Your grade is weighted 15% for your lowest test score, 25% each for the other 3 tests, and 10% for participation. 5 page paper is part of the participation score.

Comment:

Melodie Andrews is strict but you will actually learn from her. She does not allow any phones to even be seen in her classroom or you'll lose participation points. Anything she says in lectures is free to be on the test, so you'll basically need to write down every word. She is fairly easy to communicate with. She teaches well but is very strict.

Do not take if you're looking for an easy gen ed. Professor Andrews knows the material, but struggles to teach it for students at a general level. Lectures are confusing and tests are unnecessarily difficult asking questions that were never lectured on. Participate in class and read the book for the essay. Extra credit offered once in a while.

I absolutely loved this class. Professor Andrews is a tough cookie but you learn quite a bit in the class. I was nervous going into it that I would fail and hate it, but as long as you read and listen in class you will be okay. Professor Andrews holds a special place in my heart as the first prof I truly admired.

If you want to die i recommend this class. She lectures for the whole class period. No homework except reading the longest most boring book in the world and then writing a paper that only counts for 10% of your grade. I leave her class with 6 pages of notes that are all over the place because her lectures are all over the place. Tests are hard too.

1, this class is NOT about myths as we think of them. It is an in-depth evaluation of how history has been wrongly portrayed in textbooks. 2, Andrews holds her students to extremely high standards. For this class we read ~100pgs and had to write a short paper(3-5pgs)each week. It was a lot of work for a class that supposedly wasnt writing intensive

She is a very confusing teacher. She expects you to remember literally everything single thing you read in the book. If you want to take this class I gurantee you will it's not an easy A. You really have to try hard in order to do good.

She is an extremely hard grader, and nothing is ever good enough for her. I was receiving 98% on my english essays and barely receiving 90% on her essays. The ENTIRE class is her lecturing without a powerpoint or worksheet. This class is SO boring, and she is the worst part.

It is a hard class. She lectures a lot and that is where most of your information comes from. She takes attendance and has a seating chart. The class was twice a week for 1 hr 45 min. That is too long to sit and be lectured! She knows her stuff though and wants you to ask questions though. She doesn't allow laptops or cell phones.

She grasps the subject matter, but cannot teach it to college students. She expects perfection (no sneezing in class, seriously), claims to be open to questions, but answers, "I don't care; it's not on an exam." Average quiz scores for the class of 120 students are under 50%. She shows somewhat irrelevant video in class that she has not watched.

Honestly she is a little Scary! She expects a ton of stuff and everything to be perfect. Although she does look at improvment when grading so as long as you improve throughout the course she will like you. You need to be able to speak up in her class otherwise she will get pissed. You have to read every week and there is a lot of reading!
