I really enjoyed Professor Shemluck's class. For my part, he was a very influential teacher. I often went to him for help, and he was always available and happy to give time. My advice for other students in Professor Shemluck's class is to study hard, go to class, and ask for help when you need it. That will get you the grade you're looking for.

I took o chem 1 with him and got an A. Not because of his teaching styles but because of the effort I put in. I found that preparing for his class and asking questions for material I did not understand on my own was the way to go with Mel. He does not spoon feed material. This is college. Less than a B requires little effort on the students part

He's not such a terrible teacher as some of the other raters imply. He does make mistakes, but he owns up to them (unlike certain other profs at QCC). He relies heavily on the textbook, so if you can't follow him, you have the text to fall back on, and the textbook is decent. (No out-of-date, error-ridden, self-published notes involved here.)

Had to work hard for a great grade but I certainly learned a lot! He knows his stuff and does a great job sharing his expertise! He's really a super person and is willing to offer extra help when requested. If you want to learn and are willing to study-you'll find Mel one of the best!!

Mel is not a good teacher at all. He just asumes you know what he is talking about and doesn't help you out much. You pretty much have to teach yourself in this class. His constant phrase of "Turns out guys" is very annoying!!!!

Excellent teacher if you want to learn chemistry and be taught like you were at a university (since he used to teach at Northeastern). He is also more than willing to explain concepts to you outside of class. Pharmacy students tend to whine about him because he works you very hard and most of them cannot handle it.
