Comment:
You HAVE to go to class. The attendance is not mandatory but theres no online notes so you'd be pretty screwed not to. However, Bordo is an amazing lecturer. Can be hard to pay attention at times but this man definitely knows his stuff, especially with financial crises. Highly recommend but you must take good notes in class and actually listen.

Learned so much information in this man's class. He went in depth on every financial crisis. The setup is a bit strange; he teaches this class in a seminar format, so students give an in depth presentation on a topic. However, he isn't harsh on grades, but there is a substantial amount of reading. Definitely recommend him; hes very well known

Professor Bordo is literally world renowned and I highly recommend taking a class with him. He is one of very few economic historians who central bankers seek for guidance and support. He has an incredible perspective on the world economy and is a major name in economics. If you're a BS student, then avoid. If you actually like economics, then take

Professor Bordo is a wonderful professor. He is very knowledgeable on economic history, so don't try to think you can get away with doing a presentation or a paper last minute. If you ask him questions he will respond in detail, so bring a laptop to take good notes. Overall he is super nice and Rutgers is lucky to have him.

He is a smart nice guy though very boring. The class consists of a midterm, paper, and final (the tests are blue book essays). Don't bother buying the books, but go to class and take good notes. Make sure to study hard for the final because it is 50% of your grade.

Don't need textbooks, everything on tests can be learned from class lectures. They are boring and alot of info, and final was tough, but overall not the hardest thing to get a decent grade. Doesn't read paper. Overall, just go to class and take good notes

This teacher is very underestimated. He is actually pretty smart although nerdy. However he isnt that socialable so you can tell it is hard for him to teach a class well. If you just go to class and write down everything he says you will be set. Also it is true about the previous paper comments. He does not read them.

Professor Bordo is simply brilliant and Rutgers is very lucky to have him. This class is an absolute must for all economics/business majors. His teaching methods encourage students to actually go to the library and read journal articles rather than focus on a simple textbook. As a finance professional I promise you that you will need this class!

Brilliant professor, but doesn't care about students. Misses alot of class; he barely read the final paper and handed everyone an A or B, the exams are pretty easy if you know how to write. On balance the class is worth taking, but he could do a lot better. PS he won't be at RU for awhile.

he doesn't make himself very available for the class...for one, he cancels a lot of classes last minute which could or couldnt be a bad thing, and two, he doesn't really update the class with what exactly is goin on. make sure you stay on point and take good notes becuase he won't help you out much.

Lots of notes in class. Tests are essays, so write your notes like you're writing an essay, and you'll be fine.

Professor Bordo is extremely brilliant but not the most exciting instructor. Be prepared to take LOTS of notes and if you want to get a good grade, be prepared to regurgitate his notes VERBATIM. However, he's a pleasant man.

This guy works for the Fed and has written books so many people drop out of intimidation. But, if you go to class and take detailed notes, you'll do fine. He reviews too for the tests, and it says everything that will be on it. He's really nice too.
