Comment:

Dr. Lehmann is an ok professor. He reads everything off the powerpoint and sometimes isn't clear but read the book and google around a little and you'll be completely fine. His tests always had 1 or 2 questions I felt were unfair but the grade is weighted slightly at the end so it works out ok.

Comment:

Dr. Lehmann is German so his accent and his sense of humor can throw people off. I thought he was a great professor who was very clear and explained things well. He posts his slides as well as notes/what he sees as being important as well as test topics before every test. Go to class, take notes, read the book, and you'll be fine.

Comment:

Dr. Lehmann is an okay professor. He isn't always good at lecturing in a way that helps on the test. I often felt like his tests were a lot harder than they should have been. He likes the topic and is nice, but overall I would avoid taking the class with him if you can.

Comment:

The absolute worst professor I have ever had. He is very unhelpful, has absolutely terrible notes, is rude when you try to get help in office hours, when you ask questions he is rude and sarcastic back. He does not care if you pass or fail. He does not follow the book and asks questions that are not even mentioned in the book. DO NOT GET HIM.

He's a really nice professor who seems to care, but that doesn't change that he is very hard to understand and has no idea of how to emphasize what is important for the exam and what is not. You need to go to every class for attendance, but plan on reading the book for understanding because lecture is rough.

The worst professor I've ever encountered in my discipline. Absolutely nothing is clear when you walk into the test on test day. His wording is ambiguous and all over the place. Don't expect to understand anything and honestly, going to class doesn't help either (I never missed a single class). Ultimate advice-don't take genetics from German profs

I'm not sure why his rating is so low--go to class, pay attention, make sure you understand his definitions/explanations and you're golden. You really don't need the book. He's a nice guy, and he obviously knows what he's talking about.

I completely understand the lectures and read the book and it's still a challenging class. One test got cancelled in the middle of taking it so we got to use the exam to study with and it took me 4 hours to find the answers...there were 24 questions. Idk where he comes up with these ridiculous test questions.

Not the best at explaining the material where students can understand. Not the best at preparing us for what will be on the exams. But he is somewhat fair. He curves the grades. Just make sure you do what you need to do to be on the right side of the curve.

If possible don't take him, for genetics. What has been said about him is true. Furthermore, Genetics is not what he likes to teach and it shows. He teaches Developmental biology and from what I hear, he is a much better teacher in that class. I like him as a person and he was good about getting test results fast. He shows up on time & every day

Awful!!! A lot of the information in the slides is not even in the book! His tests come from a different book's test bank! His teaching style is awful, too! Beware!!

To make an A in this class you must have old exams. He doesn't test you from the book. He uses another book and its test banks. Nothing he says in class will be on the exam. Beware!!! Just another professor at the UofA who shouldn't be teaching and your tuition money is being wasted on.

Aweful at teaching, nice guy though. Sort of hard to understand him talking due to heavy accent. TO do well in class MUST talk to other students to get old tests because EVERY test question comes from PREVIOUS tests! (WORD FOR WORD). Unluckily, I did not find this out until semester was over! Most of the class knew during the semester. Unfair.

This class was soooo boring!! He just read his awful powerpoint slides that had no words, only cryptic pics on them. Tests were pretty tricky. One of the worst bio teachers I've had (most have been great).

He is so great -- and the material IS interesting!! Highly recommended. Only true slackers did poorly in this class. Lehmann is a very nice teacher and very entertaining!

I think this is the hardest Biology class I've taken. Maybe that's because I can't stay awake in class, and spend my time doing the crossword puzzles. His lectures are pretty scattered, his accent is difficult (he's German), and the class is not interesting. I think he tries to help, but the tests are over WAYYYY too much material.

Nice guy, knows his stuff. He's really smart so he can lose you, but he is sure to tell you what the "take home message" is. Would recommend the class.
