Comment:

Johnson is very funny and you can tell she is passionate about teaching. You do have to actually try and there is homework often, but its nothing too crazy. I learned so much from her class which is not something I can say about every course I have taken at Sierra. Highly recommend. P.S. She also brings snacks to class sometimes!

Comment:

Dr. Johnson is extremely talented and very intelligent. She has diverse teaching styles that makes it very easy for all students to learn no matter the learning preference. The most interesting thing about her is that she drives home her point with real life experiences and situations. She is very jovial but firm; her class is always interesting.

Comment:

MAJ is one of the most caring and kindhearted professors on this campus. Her class may be a little tough when it comes to essays, but if you are willing to go to her office hours and seek help, you will have no problem. I took her two semesters in a row cause I loved her teaching style and how she would make me work harder each day.

MAJ is a special human whose students are lucky to call their professor! With a quirky personality and great passion for the English language, she strives to provide each student with a unique and fair learning experience. She gives great feedback and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of her students. I'll miss her class!

Michelle is one of those Professors who makes you work for your grade. After not being in an English class for 2 years prior to taking this class, it wasn't the easiest class. Otherwise, Michelle is very informative and is always giving students times to talk to her outside of class if needed. Recommend taking this class if you are not a slacker...

Hard grader, must participate. Gives tough but good critique. Could use better people skills when she is communicating to students. Praises students in front of others and doesnt give the same type of encouraging critique to others. Has good intentions, but be ready for criticism.

This was the easiest English class I have taken, Michelle is very helpful and inspiring. She made class fun for everyone and cared about each student. This class is an easy A if you do your work and show up to class.

She's a tough grader but she wants you to be successful after her class. Taking her class will make every future English paper incredibly easier in the long-run. Really makes you think, felt like my brain went through a meat grinder but it was worth it. However, if you can't verbally participate in a class discussion don't take this class.

She is a caring professor and helpful. Although, she really is a tough grader. But her point to it is to make sure you do and write the assignments correctly. So make sure to ask her any questions if you are confused with something or to make clear of. Her lectures are long, but she makes you think outside of the box.

MAJ Is a wonderful teacher. She is very clear in her writing prompts. Be prepared to read and write. I took her for Native American Lit and she was very passionate about the content of the class. She is always around to give good feedback. I highly recommend taking her.

MAJ is truly wonderful. She is very passionate about what she teaches and is open-minded. She will really get you to think deeper and is great at making connections to the real world. We did have to make a small group presentation about a novel the class was reading, but it was very low-key, nothing to worry about.

I took Maj's class online, and she was great. Very helpful, always responded to messages, and she was very involved. Do the assigned work, participate in discussion boards and you should be ok. The papers will kill your grade though, her unacceptable errors take off ten points each.

Comment:

Taking this course online to fill out a requirement at nearby Davis, highly recommend for anyone looking to think critically about literature at a high level! Not a fan of analyzing literature as I mostly like to read for fun however Prof Johnson gives great feedback and makes it easy to turn in papers of substance. Beware, fast-paced. Ovrl 11/10!

She's a tough grader, but she makes you think. English 1 B is after all a critical theory class. Keeping up with the theme and the reading is a must. I took MAJ for Spring this year, and I am now just seeing the connections we've discussed in class. Take her if you're interested in growing as a writer and thinker.

This girl has passion!! She is a bundle of fun and makes the class laugh. Sometimes she can forget to engage with the class. She gives a TON of feed back on papers. She definitely challenges you to be the best writer that you can be, and she wants to help you. Definitely go into office hours. And start of strong in the class- all those points count

MAJ is the kind of professor you want to take if you are thinking about transferring to a four year university or want to learn how to read and write critically. She is the perfect preparation for nursing students and other classes that will require attendance and participation. She seems intimidating but really not. Very helpful.
