Comment:

Liao is a really funny professor. Her class is very interesting, she clearly likes genetics. Before class she would hold short meditation sessions that were key. She expects you to apply the knowledge, but in ways you've probably already seen, just with certain details switched. She pulls at least a practice problem for the test!

Comment:

Dr. Liaos section of genetics is brutal but I would absolutely take it again. Shes the most charismatic professor Ive ever had. Her class is difficult, but in a fair way. Your grade is directly proportional to how much effort you put in, even though she cares so much that I felt more motivated just so that I wouldnt disappoint her. Amazing!

Dr. Liao is such an amazing person. She is passionate and makes great jokes. Her tests are very hard though, so make sure you study A TON. She gives a lot of partial credit, but her tests make sure you can actually apply the material, not just memorize it.

Extremely smart and talented professor. Her tests are set up to make sure you UNDERSTAND the material. If you just memorize, you won't succeed. Very sweet and willing to help if. She cares a lot about her students, and understands that YOU ARE NOT YOUR GPA! Keep track of your gametes and be ready to highlight when you hear a ding.

Liao is an amazing person. She is so enthusiastic and passionate about the subject and about her students. Yes, it is a hard class, but if you're willing to put in the work she is more than willing to help you succeed.

Dr. Liao is a great person, she loves her class and her students. She is hilarious and tries to make class interesting. Her class is very tough though. She is extremely helpful if you go talk to her outside of class. I would also suggest doing all the optional "extra work" because a lot of her test questions come from it.

Comment:

Dr. Liao's section of genetics is definitely harder than the other sections, but you learn a lot and she is a great person. Not always the most clear, but she can help you a lot. Her tests are very hard, but the final exam is much easier and there are a lot of other ways to bring your grade up. I ended up with a 88.8% and she bumped me up to A-

Dr. Liao really wants to help you understand what the class is all about. She is very good when it comes to going and getting help, but the testes are SO HARD! My grade really does not reflect how much work and how much I actually know about the topics in the class. Labs are easy but really watch out for lab quizes!

STAY AWAY. Her tests are weird and when I went to her while office hours to get help, she made me cry. Hard to understand what she talks about and rambles on at times. Do yourself a favor and take someone else for the requirement.

I love Dr. Liao! She's hilarious and makes class and lab fun. But she is hard to understand and goes too fast for people to comprehend the material. She's fair (she's willing to move assignment due dates and test dates) and she's a very lenient grader. You just have to learn the material outside of class; learning in class is near impossible.

This was a very difficult class. Her tests were very long and hard to complete in the 50 minute class period. They also have a lot of problems in them that we never go over. She also expects you to be able to memorize a lot. Every test starts out with sentences with blanks, and you fill in the blanks. Nice, but not great as a teacher.

She is a great prof. She tells you what she wants you to know in her slides and you don't need to read the whole text book. She only covers certain sections of the chapters in the book. Pay attention in lecture & you'll do well on the tests. The labs aren't bad because she'll work with you and if you can't find an answer, she won't take off for it.

Dr. Liao makes you think through the subject you're learning rather than just memorize facts (heaven forbid). The skills you will acquire in this class prepare you for life after college. I remember so much of what I learned in her classes and am ahead of my class no that I'm in grad school. Stop whining and take a class you'll actually learn in!

Wonderful professor and VERY interesting class. Tests are impossible.f you are pre-health, this is one of the most practical classes you can take a Furman. She is very interested in the class and tries very hard to get students interested as well. She also tries hard to work with you if you need to miss class. She really cares about her students
