Comment:

Dr Ru is by far one of the BEST UH Math Professors. I had taken him for other courses and would keep taking him. This course was one of the most challenging Math courses I have ever taken. Very proof heavy but you can go to his office hours or email and he will answer all your questions.

Comment:

Really good professor! Very helpful in his office!!! Always posts hw solutions, mock exams & the solutions, & exam solutions. Exams can be a little long for time allotted but fair. Fill in the blank/short answer sections & free response questions w/ mix of computation & proofs. Lecture notes provided but sometimes hard to read & have errors.

Comment:

He puts everything online, his accent is also hard to understand at first, but tells you what you need to know in class, but the class didn't involve much math except INDUCTION, GL with that. Usually no curve, there's a mock exam, but you're better off studying the HW, since 1 question will be from there (out of FIVE). Do the HW, get an A. Simple.

Comment:

10 homework assignment, about 10 to 15 each, but with Chegg, it's no big deal. there are reviews and mock tests for 3 exams and final, study those but don't expect them to be exactly the same in the exams. He curves at the end.

I am in math major. This is my senior elective course. His accent is thick, but don't worry, just focus on what he is saying and what he is putting in his lecture note. Be a bit smart to get an A. If you are not good at Cal3, don't take this or your grade will be hurt. Overall course: 12 hws/10/each, no quizzes, 2 test/100/each, final/100.

This was my senior elective course. As a engineering major, I found this class quite interesting apart from the proof extensive topics. Dr. Min Ru has a thick accent but apart from that I think this is a solid class with computation+proofs. He is very helpful in office hours, and also he posts mock exam to give general hints about the exam.

Comment:

Good prof. Three exams, hw, and no final. Hw was just about daily, will post around noon and it will be due next morning but expected for summer sessions. Each exam was 25% + 25% for hw. Very knowledgeable, would be late 5-10 min every class and would answer his phone in middle of lecture but it didn't bother me. If you can take him, I recommended.

Comment:

Generous grading on the homework and exams. Didn't make things too difficult. IF you at least attempt the proofs in the homework you'll get full credit. Puts out a review before each test, almost like the test itself. Pay attention, practice a little, and u shud do fine. I didn't try hard and made an A-. Would definitely take again.

Just took him for the 2009 summer session. The guy before this complained, but this was a very easy class to make an A in. He gave two 'Mock Exams' before the last two tests that were almost 100% like the tests and curved the final grade. Go cry if you can't do math when you're a JUNIOR in college. Work hard and you'll do fine.

Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had or heard about. Had no clue about the material and even admitted such on the 1st day. Taught word for word from the textbook and graded homework extremely unfairly. After every returned homework I had to return it to be regraded because of his inability to realize the correct answer. Hard to understand

Writes all notes on the board. His exams are like homework/review sheets. No suprises. He does grade homework. He is fair- just do your part (homeworks), but expects you to do some figuring out on your own because it is a senior level course. He is willing to explain things in office time.

Accent is very thick. writes incredibly small during lectures. I did so well in this class only b/c I'm so good in math.. suggest you only take him if you are comfortable with the subject. do the homework and review tests are very similar to them.

Horrible lectures, you might be ok if this is your second + time taking the course, but would not recommend for people that aren't already good at math. Accent is very thick, he is kind of rude, & writes too small (despite our requests to write bigger!)

Easy Tests, Bad Lectures. He cannot teach since he writes extremely small and nonunderstandable. Take him if you already know Engineering Math.
