Everything the other reviewers are saying is true. On top of that, he wastes class time if anyone doesn't show up by asking their group mates where they are for the first half hour of class. He offers no feedback, so what grade you'll actually get is a total mystery until grades for the semester are up. Overall, he's impossible to recommend.

He doesn't teach. Instead, he has students present each chapter of the textbook during class. Your time is better spent in class completing HW from other classes or the "group" assignments for this class. He gives no feedback whatsoever on anything. Two exams all multiple choice. He wastes the first 40 mins rambling every class. Good luck

Probably the sweetest, nicest professor I've had, but terrible teacher. In fact, I don't even think I would call him a teacher and would use the word "professor" loosely because he doesn't teach. You are assigned a small section of a chapter and do a PowerPoint presentation on it. Read the other reviews and they all say the same thing.

He's nice but a terrible teacher. Extremely disorganized. It took awhile for him to figure out how to find the file explorer, and when we tried to help him he rebuked us. He does that a lot. He assigns a chapter then you present it. He doesn't teach. You are on your own. I use in class time to study on my own. Good luck.

Most of the UHCL professors were like that, their materials were boring and out-of-date. The best and the toughest teachers I got were two adjunct professors. Their classes almost killed me (failed to pass) but I am telling you those classes were good, were outstanding. Until now, I am still looking back to see the notes I saved from their classes.

Comment:
The projects are poorly directed and far to open ended and subjective in grading. The exam was incoherent and full of _awfully_ bad misspellings and questions that were literally repeated several times on the test. This class in not worthy of the students̢۪ time or of graduate CS credit.

Prof. Liaw is the student, and you are the teacher. He delegates his teaching responsibilities to the students by completely sharing the syllabus among the students. Where does UHCL get these types of faculty?

This is the worst professor I have ever taken. He does not teach. He has the get segments of textbook and basically teach the class for him. He critiques your presentation. The problem with this method is that you have no idea what you are saying.
