HORRIBLE AND RUDE NEEDS TO RETIRE she is so rude, grades so hard, will make you feel so stupid. she makes easy assignments so hard and will literally give you .5/10. She thinks she is the greatest thing to ever teach and she is not. Favorites her sociology majors for sure.

Professor Winston is incredible, but the classes are not a gimme; if you aren't ready to learn about sociology, don't take the class. I can't believe the amount of people saying how you have to actually work for getting a good grade. Isn't that how it should be?

Professor Winston is a great professor. She is very knowledgeable about the subject and passionate about teaching. You will definitely need the book because she assigns a chapter to be read before each class and there is a quiz. The quizzes are VERY specific and you will not pass if you don't read. There are no exams but a long paper 15 pages!!!!!

If you want an A you better participate every day in class. Quizzes are pretty difficult. You do a really time consuming group project involving focus groups in this class but it''s not that hard. STUDY for the quizzes They will make or break your grade in the end. Definitely not an easy A class.

Very hard teacher! Text book was a waster as she only uses into to Soc instead of applied Soc. Group project is VERY time consuming and her examms are really HARD. She will give bonus points if you participate in clss and that really helps out. make sure you study from her slides and memorize them word for word -

Really a bad professor. She is past her time, and very unfair and biased. Can't say anything good about her. I love school and enjoy all of my professors in their own unique ways, but in this class I lost out on knowledge and time.

Good teacher, very kind and if you show that you care about the class she will try to help you. Tests are kinda hard, just essays no multiple choice and she somes gives you the questions before the test so you can do an outline but not always. Keep up with the reading because the tests are from them

Only B in college. I couldn't hear a word she said. u have to constantly stay on top of the material because the quizzes. Group projects, tests MC/essays, busy work. SO boring. says she doesn't like giving As. And don't move your papers in class, she gets angry.

there was alot of information that needed to be retained for weekly quizzes, but the woman knows her stuff and i definitely learned ALOT. if you are attentive in class, she will like you and give you a break here or there if you need it

Winston grades based on an emotional response to a name she sees on the paper, not the quality of the content. Do not piss her off. Easiest ways to get a bad grade: poor attendance, not paying attention, anything that doesn't support feminists, counter-points to her views, and being male. Don't take her if you can avoid her class. Good luck.

I have taken her class several times, although she is boring she does know her stuff. Downside you must attend class not because she takes points but if you show up a lot she will be nice to you and she will be more willing to help you or throw you a bone. The classes themselves are really boring, but she basically outlines all of the notes.

This woman drove me insane with all of the un-related tangents, and not enough literal lecturing on the textbook material that we were constantly quizzed on - so in-class notes were basically useless. She expects you to practically memorize the book word-for-word, but if you study like your life's dedicated to sociology, you'll pass.

Dr. Winston is one of those professors who make you feel like you are in college and getting your money's worth. If reading the text, taking notes, using analytical thinking skills and learning in general is not what you planned on doing in college, then perhaps a vocational school is more your level.

Warning to the lazy, this class is not for you! If you don't like hardwork, you probably don't want to take Dr. Winston. You MUST take notes during her lectures, and you HAVE to read the text. Her tests aren't too difficult, but she does take all her test questions from lectures, the text book, and the online quizzes. She is a good professor.

The whole deal of "eating" a textbook and memorizing names + dates usually kills me.. btw, I HATE to read textbooks.. Still at the end I got an A and learned a lot from that class. It was very useful for me to read the chapters before class (usually there was a pop quiz). Challenging but worth it.. be ready to take good notes and read a lot!
