5 written cases (1 page) from the textbook (Easy). 5 homework assignments from SAP. (Hard). In SAP hw you have to follow tutorials, but if you have questions, he won't answer it because it's all in the tutorials. SAP is sensitive and detail oriented. Exams are difficult, you have to read the book and memorize it if you want to pass.

The best professor I ever had in SFSU. This class is really hard esp the semester SQL project. But he is really inspiring, fun and make sure you go talk to him in his office hours. He is really motivating and gives you detail feedback,

One of the best professors in SFSU. Lectures are a little long and dry, but he tries to make them interesting and interactive. Only one downside for 464 - a lot of time spent on out of dated Access and not enough on sql practice. Other than that highly recommend!

Very good teacher and lecture is very clear, he video records the session, if you miss class you can watch it online. 3 tests and group project. The project can be intimating but if you go to his office hours he helps you a lot. His lectures has current examples so you can better understand.

Hands down the best ISYS professor I had. He's very clear on what he expects of you and is able to clearly articulate course concepts and make it relevant to today's businesses. If you are struggling in class, visit him during office hours and he will be extremely helpful.

This prof teaches you a bunch of concepts and when it comes to the actual SQL he barely spends any time on it. The course does not prepare students for the real world nor does it teach any skill. If you have an opportunity take this course with someone else or supplement it with a city college course in SQL do so. His tests are hard, study a lot!

I really enjoyed this class. At first I was very unclear on homework but just looked back at in class exercises or emailed him. He was extremely helpful and really helps you to understand. Very nice person. Highly Recommend. Print out lectures so you can follow in class otherwise you might doze off.

He's a nice teacher and all, but one thing that I didn't like about him (along with a bunch of my friends in the class) is that his exams are tough, mainly because each chapter's PowerPoint presentations are anywhere from 50-95 slides, packed with info. His gives you previous exams, but they don't really help.

Great lecturer, engaging, very fun class. On one side, seems practical and pragmatic, wanting you to learn real world applicable skills related to data modeling and databases in general, but then in the end you have to memorize frivolous factoids out of the book to do well in class, which doesn't measure real understanding of material.

His lectures and materials are out dated, most topics are useless and you ended-up with little knowledge of database. He talks about his history in HP a lot, obviously he was laid off from HP and stuck here to torture us. In fact who cares about you and HP, just teach something useful and don't waste our time.

What a nice surprise to find someone like Beckman working here. He does know his stuff, a marvelous exception from the typical road-kill instructor. He is focused, speaks to the point and expects nothing less from you. At the end you might even find an interest about this whole DB biz. Take this guy if you can! I recommend him!

Very helpful, knows his stuff, badass in his field, NOT a road kill like most others, worked in a real company, impressive! Material is not super easy but if you are ISYS you should do fine. Not an easy A but the key is to just not expect one either. Otherwise very intersting class and Beckman is totally open to non-standard point of view!

I am not a computer person, so had to work a little extra hard. Bur Prof. Beckman founds ways to make the material more interesting, which helped me learn a lot and build a strong base. Approachable, helpful, a great sense of humor. One needs to know the materal well, as the tests are challenging, but not hard! Amazing professor!!

I didn't go to class much (cuz of work) but I still was able to keep up. Very straight forward grading and lectures. No surprises. All lecture notes and powerpoints available on his website. Easy going guy and doesn't intimidate at all. Two individual case presentations mandatory but it sounds more difficult than it really was. You just read a shor

A great teacher. His grading is very clear. Dont under estimate his homeworks...yeah they worth like 20 pts each, but if u missed 2 of em, u might not be able to get an A. His exams are pretty easy, he gave you samples from previous semester. His project is pretty challenging, but u can ask him anythin to help u out w/ it.

Agree he is nice guy overall, but the grading is a little bit tight, you must be check the details in your hw (5 hws), he will decrease your credit if you forgot to put your name as preset heading or not use formula for one cell.
