Comment:
Professor Thistle was ok. I don't feel like I gained as much as I should have from this class. Most of the class was focused on calculating financial figures, not on the actual decisions you should be making based on the numbers. Definitely would recommend taking this course with another professor if you have the option.

This class is not hard by any means but the format by this professor is outrageous. Three exams and the final are 90% of your grade! Class notes are online but doesn't provide details on the formulas and the homework is no help. You will go in blind into the exams, don't take him.

Simply lectures from book slides, no study guide, during reviews bring questions because he won't review unless asked to. 3 mid-terms 1 final. Homework and class material are very different, it felt like a self taught course.

3 Tests, 1 cumulative final. Lots of online HW which isn't too hard, but you will probably reteach the material to yourself from home. The book is not helpful. He's a tough grader, and makes MANY spelling errors on exams so don't be afraid to call him out on it. Gives you a formula sheet for the exam but it's jibberish compared to his notes.

Pretty simple class. Attendance is not mandatory, but i recommend showing up and just paying attention. He shows you how to use the financial keys on the calculator. DO the homework so you understand the concepts and study off of the homework for the tests. If you understand the concepts and how to use the formulas you will be fine on the tests.

Already a difficult subject but he makes it very tough. Doesn't make the homework so the homework and the tests are VERY different. Doesn't enjoy giving honest answers to questions in class - very snarky and witty responses. don't "need" the book but i recommend getting it and trying to read.

This one was a doozy. Dr. Thistle did not seem to like questions and often did not have a clear explanation of what was happening in class. Tests included information that was not covered in class, but instead were snippits of the textbook. Homework was online and required your answers to be spot on to get credit. Would not recommend.

His lectures are very textbook content heavy, and the homework is all mastery problems online that dont help much to study for the exam. Just be sure to read and practice the textbook examples, it's the closest thing to study materials this class provides.

Tough subject, good teacher. Do not need the book necessarily, online homework on Pearson. Need to be there for the lecturers, teaches with power-points that can be found on his own web page and teaches you how to use the calculator, if you get the BA II plus Professional you can do MIRR. If you do not go to class or do the home work you will fail

WORST professor at UNLV. Just reads the power points that he gives you and goes through the example as if it is a book. Homework is complicated and no help from tutoring. 3 exam and a final all about 26 question so no room for errors. Ask for a yes or not question and gives you an answer of a paragraph which leave you more confuse. TAKE SOMONE ELSE

One of the worst teachers at UNLV. 90% of the grade is based on three tests with 27 questions each. Super specific questions from the book, and it almost feels like he wants you to fail. Extremely unhelpful. Do not take him if you can avoid it.

Don't Buy the book he doesn't even use it. He has his own PowerPoint slides he goes over during the lecture. Homework requires hours of your time. and test are 26 questions or less. just continue to practice the homework and go to tutoring if you want to pass. No study guide or practice test is provided to you so try study groups.

He has his own website, which means there you will not know what your grade will be through out class. Had no idea how many chapters we will learn since his does not tell you in the syllabus. The notes you print he reads of in class, give little to no example all on the homework. No study guide or pratice test.

Professor Thistle is a good professor who teaches a difficult subject. Grade is based on online HW and 4 tests. Final is cumulative. Most of the work builds on the previous topics so attending regularly is recommended. As long as you show up to class and study a few hours a week you will get a good grade.

Dr. Thistle is an amazing finance professor. If you show up to class and make sure to actually ask questions about topics you don't understand, he will always do his best to explain. His lectures are always insightful and if you put in the work you will get a grade that mirrors your effort.

Mr. Thistle is a really good teacher that genuinely cares if the students understand the material. There is a weekly homework that is online and fairly simple but sometimes lengthy. Before each test he does a very in-depth review that is extremely helpful. He has good office hours so if you need help you can get it. Tries to keep it real life.

Thistle is actually funny if you get his humor. He uses my finance lab for hw due each week. Theres 3 tests, 1 final all multiple choice. Formula sheets are provided for tests. Lecture is boring but he always reviews how to do the problems and conceptual questions. Dont buy the book and study for tests.

Listen, I don't understand how this guy has such a high difficultly. I didn't take notes one time during the class, mainly because he doesn't allow the use of laptops, but I still managed to get an A. The hardest thing about the class is the weekly homework, which is harder than the material on tests. Take Thistle for 301; you won't regret it.

All the years I went to UNLV, Professor Thistle is my favorite. I only wish he would teach upper division courses, so I can take his classes. His lecture are important and shows you how to do each problem. Exam's can be a bit challenging, but you are at a University so challenge is everything. Don't believe all these bad views, Work hard for an A

Comment:
His lecture is simple, while his tests and homework are challenging. You are basically teaching yourself the material by looking at the homework examples. My Math Lab homework had at least 30-50 problems each and is so time-consuming that is only worth 5% of your grade. None will help you with the exams.
