Burns is not your average professor. He is witty, enthusiatic, outgoing, and quite the character. He is called fourth degree Burns because of his 4 degrees. He is the type of person that will stop the whole class if one person doesn't understand a concept. He reminds you of your purpose and wants the best for each of his students. He is exceptional

This guy is an absolute riot and joy to be around! No tests or quizzes, just some short homework assignments and a policy brief worked on throughout the semester. He clearly defines in his syllabus what an A paper consists of in his class. Show up, you won't regret it. He's a dependable and trustworthy professor who is always willing to help.

Best professor I've ever had. Truly cares about his students and teaching them the material in an easy way to understand. Hilarious. Challenges you beyond your limits and is there to see you succeed. I would recommend taking Dr. Burns 1000000%.

Prof. Burns is a great teacher, he takes interest in every student and genuinely cares about wether or not you're learning. You have to make sure to show up to every class because even though he seems easy going, he really cares about attendance. It's an easy class in you pay attention and show up. Took Am Gov't with him, great class! Participate!

Comment:

Dr. Burns is a great teacher and I love my Freshman Seminar class with him. His policy brief projects are extremely long and require a lot of work, but if you do not procrastinate you will do fine. PICK A GOOD GROUP FOR THE PRESENTATION! It is essential. But he is the main reason as to why I am going to pursue a minor in Poly Sci. Great teacher!

Burns was alright. Honestly people think he's better than he really is. He picks favorite. He doesn't tell you your grade or post them anywhere so it was always a nice surprise...he talks about himself a lot.I learned the course material. NEVER TAKE A 3 HOUR CLASS rushed too much. Very hard to take notes in his class he talks fast

Nice guy, but intimidating at first. Most people can warm up to him easily because he is really funny. He says the class will be hard, it isn't, you can do all the assignments an hr before class and still get an A, trust me. Absolutely take him if you can.

Burns is GREAT. I had him for intro to state & local politics. Participate and don't be afraid to ask questions--he truly cares about teaching & really wants students to get the material. He's pretty funny & tries to get to know all of his students. Pay attention!! He hates when students aren't engaged but it's hard not to be. Careful with the laptops, though--if he lets you use them, don't take advantage of it & stay off of Facebook (profs can tell)

PBurns is a very hard professor, but he knows his stuff. He will help you however he can, but just don't get on his bad side. He has a good sense of humor, also. My favorite professor at Loyola. He inspired me to change my career path from teaching to urban design because of his enthusiasm. Had his class on september 11th and he made the most eloquent comments on that tragedy that I ever heard. He is a stud, a gentleman, and a scholar. Thanks Burnsy

BEST TEACHER EVER! Dr. Burns is the nicest, funniest, best teacher I ever had in my life. I was a poly sci major and I switched, but I wish that I could still take him for some of my classes. He's not an easy "A" but definitely an easy "B." I promise, you won't go wrong with taking this class, you will totally love it! TAKE HIM!
