This class is tough because it's just everyone trying to figure out how to navigate the class and make sense of the material because his lectures are useless. There is a four stage group project that will make or break your grade. GO TO THE TA FOR HELP. Don't rely on him to answer questions - he enjoys giving you cryptic, condescending answers.

Gillett knows the material very well but the entire curriculum/his teaching style is designed to make everything as difficult as possible and prevent learning. He doesn't care that the average for his exams is often around a 25, and gives confusing responses if you seek him out of class. Tests you on your ability to mindlessly memorize, not learn.

The group project (4 stages) will take at least 10 hours per week. Exams are entirely based off what you do in the group project, so it will be helpful in the long run if you put a lot of effort into it. There is a near impossible access assignment near the end of the semester, but a big curve. Hard to get an A, but few students actually fail

The worse class you will ever take. Can easily spend 40 hours a week on some of the projects and assignments and still not do well. No one has enough time to finish for the midterm or for the final.

Professor Gillett was the best professor I've ever taken at Rutgers. All projects are very simple and easy as long as you are a Computer Science double major and have a background in Microsoft Access. An MBA in systems will also come in handy! Overall, little to no effort necessary and a great experience.

It's a very time consuming class and can be confusing but Gillett will do anything to help you. Go to his office hours, e-mail him, get to know him - he'll give you answers you just have to ask the right questions. Very doable to do well.

Terrible professor from england who is way too stuck up. Unfortunately, he is the only one teaching the subject so you have no choice. This class should be called Pointless Memorization 101 not AIS458

Although this class is very hard, it is still manageable as long as you're not lazy. The exams are literally based off the semester long project so as long as you put in your hours for that and Microsoft Access, you'll be fine on the exam (still no one ever finishes, but the curve is awesome).

The class is really hard because there is a semester project which takes a ton of time. Nobody has ever gotten a 100% on his exams because they are literally like 20 chapters. If you ask him a question, he won't help you. He is too stuck up. Good luck. Not sure how someone else is not teaching this class yet

AIS will probably be one of the hardest classes you'll ever take, but getting a good grade isn't impossible; it just takes alot of effort and is time consuming. Do well on the midterm because the final is near impossible. I'd recommend making note cards and study guides. Take the group projects seriously because they count alot towards your grade.

This class is not easy, but Professor Gillett does everything in his power to be available to his students and help them through the material. He is a wonderful and extremely smart professor and made the dry material much more enjoyable.

Very easy class, and a genius professor who is way over him self. It was defiantly an easy A. if you attend every class, do the quizzes on time, make your group do all the work, and memorize the hell out of the power point you will defiantly get more than an A. your goal should be to memorize not to learn! if you have good memory its an easy A+

HARD CLASS but doable. I didn't read early on and crammed a lot and did well with the curve. Had a crappy group, so worked a lot on the projects which helped a lot when it came to the midterm and final so slacking off and expecting others to do the project is hurting you more then anyone else. Just study and memorize everything.

He throws so much work at you. The last few stages of the project take over 30 hours to complete...bye bye weekends. I talked and conversed with my group members than i did with my lover. The exams almost impossible but the curve is ginormous! Failed the exams still got a B. Best Wishes

A part of my soul died in this class. Literally no free time AT ALL. 7 stages for the project which get progressively harder. 2 Exams... absolutely insane. Final took over 3 hours to complete. Will make you consider switching your major. I feel your pain.

SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR WEEKENDS AND SOCIAL LIFE. This is the toughest course for accounting majors. It is not impossible to get an A. I also got an A in this class (3.80 GPA). All you need for this class is pure memorization and MS Access knowledge. This course will challenge you in terms of difficulty and time managing skill. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
