I feel like people our giving him a bad wrap, I took the 3 week summer session and it was hell but not because of the prof, he does tons of examples on the board, and also answers everyone's questions, his English is lacking but it is a math class so that did not really seem to make a difference , he puts in the work so you have to too!

Professor Yang provides a simple learning experience and makes it aware of what is required of students. His lectures often jump around a lot but they are relatively easy to follow. Weekly quizzes handed back quickly.

Pretty thick accent, but you catch on quickly. Lots of his examples, especially the ones he does the day before an exam, are often on the exam. Has lots of examples on his slides which are very helpful

he provides slides with important examples all explained in classes and labs. He is very helpful with assignments and other problems if you approach him. overall, great prof if you can get his accent, maybe will take 2/3 classes. be prepared to complete assignments on time, be responsible and you will get a good grade.

Lectures are pretty dull and he tends to over acknowledge minute details. Make the effort to show up, otherwise its hard to tell if you are doing things correctly. Overall the Quingde is a statistics-loving lad. I hope you have the opportunity to see the most contented version him on Pi Day (he wears a dope Pi shirt).

I can't understand him at all since he has a thick accent, so I had to do self study just to pass the class. Definitely would not take a class again with him.

While you do need to be there for lectures in order to understand the content (I found, anyway), he does explain things well. Hes a super sweet person, and made statistics easy to understand and interesting. Somewhat thick accent, but writes everything on the slides or on a whiteboard, so you can decipher everything well enough. Would take again.

really really disliked this class. I coulnt understand what was going on and felt like i left the class even more confused than i had been when i first walked in. Tests are fairly hard (but i could just be stupid). Overall, worse class I've ever taken.

I really didn't like this course. I could barley understand the prof and he moved way too quick. I was the type of person to do really good in math and enjoyed it, but I did not do good in this class whatsoever. The outcomes were interesting, but I couldn't fully understand what was being taught.

Dr. Yang's accent is pretty tough to understand, but is manageable. He definitely enjoys what he does, is good at it, and cares about his students. He mostly just does examples in class, so you'll have to learn and practice on your own. Overall, very fair grader and posts great resources online like past midterms, all slides and practice problems

He is great! he has an accent, but is very understandable! You can tell he loves to teach stats and just wants everyone to understand. Its a good idea to keep up with the optional homework assignments and make sure you understand because if you fall behind and don't understand 1 thing, it will be harder to understand the next thing!

His accent is thick and all he does in class is examples--He expected us to know the material before he went over it. Frequently goes over time, and is hard to understand.

I had this prof for Math 264. Showed up to the first week of classes, realized he is very difficult to understand and never went again. I read the textbook at home to learn all the concepts. If I didn't understand something, he was very accessible during his office hours. He is a very inconsistent grader.

I had him both for Math 110 and for Math 116. It was difficult to understand his verbal explanations due to a language barrier. However, he gave excellent notes which helped me master the material.

He was always in his office after hours and I went to see him for help more than once! The material was easy as long as you don't overthink it. Practice a lot and you'll be fine. His accent is thick but it doesn't affect the lecture that much.

Talks about Math 116 a lot. Constantly tells us we need to spend all our time practicing math because we're weak in math. Took me an entire day to realize when he said "joo" he meant "rule". DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER. I worked and took this class and barely passed. It's extremely time consuming and fast paced.

Took the spring Math 100 and he was great!! Can understand him just fine, makes himself as clear as he can and explains how to do the math with multiple examples. If you struggle with math like myself, I still recommend a tutor as there's a lot to go over. He allows cheat sheets & calculator and gives out old tests for examples :)
