He is the worst teacher ever. His tests are made up questions he pulls out of thin air. If this teacher is supposed to be a weed out teacher he does a good job. His test averages are usually in the 40's. So depend on the curve to do well.

Keep in mind that his test are vague and he has no practices test. Run far far far away from this teacher. You will regret it. At least Bean has practice tests so you know what to expect. As for him his motto is do every problem in the book.

The worst teacher you will ever encounter teaching organic chemistry. Most of his teaching comes from powerpoint slides, unreachable in emails, and finds pleasure when the class doesnt know the answers. He also likes comparing himself to other teachers constantly saying his tests are supposed to be harder than everyone else. He should retire.

I took OChem I in his summer class and it's a fast class. Keep up. Read the material and start the homework the night before lecture. OChem is not a give away class, so be prepared to study yourself silly. He's a good professor, his lectures are clear organized. His tests are fair. Study hard. You'll get as much out of this class as you put in.

He's an excellent professor. He tries to explain things well and he is a very clear speaker. Only issue I had were the extremely long tests. And having to use pen. Are you kidding me? That was ridiculously stupid for an organic class. Long tests and use pen. Right. I recommend him, be sure to work hard. Requires studying everyday. Follow his advice

if youre thinking about taking him for the summer, do not be disencouraged by some of the comments below. At the pace the class goes, and the nature of the material you have to teach yourself. you only go to class to get things clarified. the first half of organic is not all that hard. general chem II is harder....but orgo II is really challanging.

A little difficult to understand. Advincula is a pretty awful teacher overall-he just reads his slides without explaining mechanisms, how things happen, etc. I would not recommend taking this class in the summer if you actually need to learn this material. If you just want to get it over with- then go for it.

He's a pretty good teacher, very helpful. His exams are very straight forward, it's possible to make an A in his class if you work all the problems. Highly recommended for org chem I
