worst teacher I had at UTC; condescendingly cruel. I couldn't believe some of the things he said to students. He is also the epitome of pedantic(anal, way to concerned with every last tiny detail.)Too scared to speak up in class, studied all night and failed the tests. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM. (unless you're already VERY capable in French.)

He is incredibly rude and does not give students reaction time when he asks questions. Also, he points out student's flaws and harps on them the whole semester, belittling his students. I hear he is retiring after Spring of 08, and if this is true, then I thank God.

I have to say he is the most entertaining teacher I have ever had. Has a prodigious knowledge of languages, German, Freanch, Spanish, Latin, and English. He is really a nice sort and is quite willing to help you with something or explain something. Bring the textbook. Once you get used to him he is really quite good. Definately take him if you can.

His classes are pretty straightforward. You translate the stories, and do a lot of work with verbs. I've made a 95 and 96 on our two quizzes so far, and a 100 on the first exam. I don't have a problem with him, and would take FREN 214 with him next semester if I didn't have a scheduling conflict. He seems to have abandoned the velcro shoes :(.

He is intelligent, and always showed the linguistic ties between German and English. I am a joint enrollment student with no previous experience of German, and I still have done very well on every test he has given me. Now I'm reading Nietzsche, Goethe, Schiller. . .I respectfully suggest that with Prof. Stanley, you'll get back what you've put in.

Yeap, the Velcro shoes, cheap brown britches and plastic hat would trip anyone out. Also, his 60's era crude bifocals and****-star moustache...but I love the guy. He knows languages and teaches German and Spanish in addition to French. It's true that he calls students out in class, but that's funny too. He's just a character, and he's great.

Yeah, he's a weird guy, but French makes so much more sense to me now than it ever did. Likes to call out everyone's name during his speeches. (You gotta take the class to understand what I mean by that.) Great teacher. Explains material well, not a lot of tests or quizzes, but gives you ample time to prepare for them.

Classes are done, hallelujah, and with them my German requirement is fulfilled. I am so unspeakably glad that I won't have to listen to this man drone on endlessly about imbecilic pedantry ever again. This man nearly ruined German for me. I'm surprised I still have any intellectual interest left.
