Mebane I would say is the best chemistry professor I've had at UTC. He's a total jerk, but he knows how to teach Ochem very well. His tests aren't that hard as long as you study for them. I took him in the summer and wish he taught in the fall. I would definitely take him again. I studied every night thought because Ochem isn't super easy.

I just had him for organic chemistry 2. I had him also for organic chemistry 1 and the labs for both. If I could go back, knowing what I do about the other professors, I would still take him for both lectures and labs. He is very clear to what he is looking for in his exams. He gives decent lectures and you don't have to use bond-line structures!

Great teacher. You actually want to listen when attending his lecture. Very interesting material. It is tough material to understand, but he makes it manageable. Attending his lectures will almost insure you a B at least in the class. He is very clear on what he wants on his tests. I would recommend taking this teacher over all other in organic.

Mebane is great! However, the only grades for the class are four exams, so you need to do well on those. His exams are just like the study problems!

He explains everything very well and tells you what topics will be on the exams. If you take good notes and study them then the exams are usually easy. I noticed that a lot of the problems from the exams are examples he does in lecture. He is easily the best chemistry professor I've ever had.

Dr. Mebane was my chem teacher for organic 1 and 2. He simplifies everything he can to make it understandable. He is willing to help if you don't understand too. The practice problems he gives will prepare you for the test, but i suggest buying the solutions manual. Its worth every penny! but overall a great teacher, made me enjoy chemistry.

Took Organic chem 1 for summer but found it easy. He explains stuff really well. The exam questions he gives are the basic ones too as long as you did the practice problems assigned.

Took organic 1 for summer. I went to class often and did all the practice problems assigned in class before an exam and found all the exams very easy. He is also a very approachable and considerate professor. Definitely one of my favorites in the chem dept.

He was a pretty great teacher, the subject is hard so the class can't be easy but he did his best. The tests are not too bad, they're about 2 or 3 pages with about 20 questions. He does give partial credit when he's grading. The only bad thing I have to say is that he has terrible handwriting, you can not read it at all.

Dr. Mabane is very straight forward. 4 Tests plus the final and drops the lowest test grade (won't drop the final). No hw or quizzes. Attendance is not mandatory but thats the only way you find out when tests are. He does not send out emails or post any grades online. I never went to class and got high B's on all the tests. Tests are not tricky.

I took Dr. Mebane for organic 1 and 2, as well as both of the labs. He is extremely clear on what will show up on the test. As long as you study and listen to his lectures you will do well. Labs were also straightforward. He can be pretty condescending and intimidating somedays, and other days a very helpful teacher. buy the soln manual, it helps.

Organic wasn't all that bad. Dr. Mebane is very clear in what he expects and his tests are really straightforward. Not a whole lot of partial credit, doesn't take attendance, and no graded homework, so your grade is pretty much your test grades. Dr. Mebane can go kind of fast so find a study buddy and do all the assigned problems over and over!

What you have to do to do well in this class: 1.) Go to every lecture 2.) Print off the slides beforehand and write notes on them. 3.) For tests: study old tests, notes, and book. That being said, he is a really good professor for such a hard subject.

The EASIEST teacher you will ever have. Writes everything out clearly and works through multiple example problems. Posts lecture online so you can bring in his notes before class if you want. Tests are extremely simple if you pay any attention at all. Very nice. I missed multiple classes due to illness and still did very well.

I found this class to be somewhat hard, but then again Chemistry has never been my cup of tea. He's a very nice man, but sometimes he's not very clear on the things he teaches. I've had to teach myself a large majority of the material. Overall, I thought he was decent. It could have been a lot worse.

He is an AMAZING professor. He makes the material sooo easy to understand. I hated Chemistry and struggled to make an A in Gen. Chem, but for his class, as long as you study and pay attention in class, he explains everything very clearly and makes organic the easiest subject on earth.
