This professor should not be teaching. He has almost no people skills and comes across as very pompous. I am going to a different community college to finish Calculus based Physics!

This class was only easy because of the curve and because he let us use cheat sheets. He was kind of awkward but nice. Just show up, pay attention, and you won't have a problem.

He is a very awkward human being. He lectures as though he is talking to himself, so if you ask questions he will hate you. He often talks about things that are not required for his class. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS EVERYTHING ON THE HOMEWORK YOU CAN GET FROM YAHOO ANSWERS :)

Is very awkward in lecture. Does not offer personal. I don't even think he has office hours. Labs aren't too hard, but they have nothing to do with the lecture. Lots of self teaching is needed to pass.

Comment:
Do not bother asking questions in this class, for the most part all you will receive is a snide comment or a condescending tone. Scott does not want to be there, and from what I have seen he does not put much effort into his class. I wanted to like Scott, and I have had many conversations with him, but he is an thoroughly unpleasant professor.

Scott expects you to know what is going on in class everyday, which is very hard to do since you will always be 2-3 chapters ahead of what you are going to get tested on. I mean, it is ridiculous. His class is so curved that 60-70% in the class is an A. He is not a people's person, so keep that in mind when taking this class. Study yourself.

I didn't usually go to class and did fine because his notes are all online. I found his lectures useless because the only stuff he talks about that isn't in the notes is stuff that you don't need to know. You get to use a sheet of notes of the tests so that helps. Tests are pretty hard but 80% and above is an A. He doesn't really care about student

This was my first physics class ever! It's an intimidating class to start but Scott doesn't deviate from his syllabus so if you read it and do everything that is expected you should do well. The homework is a bit challenging but if you watch videos and study, the homework will help a lot in the exams. Study and do your homework you'll be fine.

Scott cares about his students, thus he requires that they show up to class and participate. This is a no-brainer for most students, but apparently the millennials think you should just be able to skate through a physics class. Scott is very knowledgeable and always available if you need help with the course material.

Even for a calc based physics class he went over the deviations once with us and then allowed us to use the trig method as well as letting us use an equation cheat sheet on the test. I took Phys I and II with him and the key is to do the homework and study his examples. Youll pass if you do that!!! This is coming from someone who is bad at math too

Comment:
In my book, Scott is an excellent instructor. I found his style to be very math heavy, so it is imperative that one be comfortable with mathematics in order to appreciate and fully understand his teaching. His tests can be quite difficult, but he does offer a very generous curve. I thought Scott was very helpful when asked a thoughtful question.

Very difficult to follow along with what he presents in class - makes mistakes frequently so that you are lost. Often will go in depth about a topic that is difficult to comprehend, only to state a class or two later that you will not need to know anything about that. Not very helpful - almost condescending when a questions is asked.

Moved quickly but not too fast. Lectures sometimes unclear, but was always willing to spend time answering questions and explaining it differently. Tests were challenging with 2 or 3 long questions in parts, but points off for a mistake in one part did not cascade to the rest. Calc was slowly added in 1st semester for those taking it concurrently.
