Comment:

Hu is pretty laid back and offers chances to get your grades up. His lectures are very very dry and you'll probably space off a lot. He doesn't understand some of the questions students ask him, but all of the TA's are super helpful so just reach out to someone and you'll be fine. I took the 8 week course so we were doing labs everyday.

Boring you may fall alseep. Offers extra credit. Answers on quizzes online (can take unlimited times) and the test answers are taken from those. Pop quizes from the slide shows but he gives you the correct answers right after. Easy A. Just make sure you show up for the quizzes because they are worth 10 points.

Comment:

Great professor, midterm KILLED my grade but there is a Lot of in class activities. Ended up with an A. He offered a few points of extra credit which helps. You have to make an effort to meet with him but he is a HUGE help if you ask.

I had Hildabrant first but he had to leave so Dr. Hu came in. He wasn't as enthusiastic as Hildebrant but he was easy. Online quizzes are simple and the tests come from those. Hu is just very boring to listen to. He randomly takes attendance and its 10 points, so i always went to class but always worked on something else

Lectures can be dry. You can easily do well in his class. Has online quizzes that you can take an unlimited amount of times so there is no reason not to get 100% on those. Has extra credit opportunity as well. Study the online quizzes & the notes and you should do just fine.

If you don't read your textbook, you will not even know what this guy is talking about. If you don't like reading,studying, or struggle to keep your attention on him from more than 5 minutes, I recommend someone else. The book is easier to understand then his class. The online quiz answers can be found word for word on other sources. Not worth it.

I took this online during the summer. He must get his weekly homeworkquizzes straight from the book publisher because if you go to study online, you will find them word for word. His tests are written by him. I found it easy since I studied the online material and passed all the quizzes 100%.

Oh goodness... ok you wont know what he's talking about. Pretty much the stuff you have to do is somewhere already completed on your computer and that is the only reason people pass. If that gets wiped clean you're SOL. I couldn't tell you much about what I learned. Take with someone else if you actually want to learn about Cartography.

He is very knowledgeable but English is not his first language. He doesn't take criticism well, after he asked the class about our midterm. He lectures on a separate PowerPoint that you do not have access to, and he cares so little about the class that all of the completed projects are online in his folder. Do not take him if you do not have to!

Was not helpful outside the classroom at all. His midterm and final were the hardest and some of the stuff came out of the book we never even opened or talked about in class. He wasn't always the friendliest and didnt take well to criticism when he asked us what we thought of the midterm. If you are a not a geo major I dont recommend this class.

It was a LONG semester. I think he tries his best but he most of the time he is unclear and unorganized. It was extremely hard to figure out what he meant/wanted on projects. That being said, don't panic if you have to take a class him. He gives AMPLE extra credit. He likes to say "Do your best and Dr. Hu will do the rest." I ended the class with over 100%. Moral of the story: You might have to force yourself to go to class (attedence=mandatory) but if you try, it is an easy A.

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. I passed the class with over 100% and didn't learn a thing. If you are looking for an easy class this is definitely it. If you are genuinely interested in the topic, take the class with Hildabrandt.

Hard to understand what he wants . Gives very vague guidelines to stuff and is very hard to under stand even when talking to him face to face. This class could be good and he knows a lot of about this subject, but under standing what he is saying is so hard, don't take the class if you don't have to even if you had him before that was my mistake

Meteorology - If you do what you should be doing as a student you will get an A or B. Show up & get full points on work. Online quiz: take unlimited times till 100%. The point scale is in student's favor. Lectures great, he's not hard to understand. Use online resources, book, PP, & study quizzes. Highly recommend & I would take more classes w/him.

Not what I was looking for. For starters he's very hard to understand. The powerpoint presentations are useless. BUT....if you attend class (for class attendance quizzes) and do the online quizzes it's very easy to get an A or B. I agree with comments below. Study the online quiz material. That is where the test material comes from.

Worst professor EVER. I got an A in his class because I read every single chapter word for word and did the online quizzes. Even the powerpoints he puts online are worthless because the online quizzes come directly from the book (and the tests come directly from the quizzes). Very time comsuming to keep up with all the reading, too.
