Nice lady if you are on her good side. if you skip she will call you out on it. If you wear purple for your speeches you get extra credit. Most classes you listen to other speeches, and speeches are not difficult if you talk about something you care about. She gives good feedback

Sonia Young!(Purple Lady) Her class is basically how to form speeches and give speeches... Very easy to do if you are okay with speaking in front of a class overtime for a speech. Theres 8-10 long speeches and 3-4 minute short speeches. Midterm is two 2-page single spaced papers and Midterm is three 2-page papers. GO to class & pass! Loved Her!

Sonia Young used to be a very well known speaker. USED TO BE are the three key words here. She still knows what she is talking about, however, she's becoming so senile that she can't seem to get that knowledge across. If you're on her good side, you're golden. If you're not, you're better off dropping the class. Don't take this class.

I love Professor Young. She is very sweet, funny, and rocks the color purple! Her class is easy if you put a little bit of effort into your speeches. You have 2 easy papers and 4 speeches. Most classes you simply listen to other kids present their speeches. She gives great critiques that are helpful to your own work and offers extra credit!

Hands down, strangest class I've ever taken. There are no lectures really. She just expects you to be able to give brilliant 10 minute speeches. Half the time she doesn't even listen to what you say though. Pretty easy grader though. Wear purple on speech days and she'll give you extra credit.

What can I say? The Purple Lady is the best. I had my doubts at first, but it turned out to be the funnest class I've taken. She's a superb teacher & tells you the truth, which can be hurtful somtimes. But, she will make you a better speaker. You have 5 speeches & 2 critiques at mid-term and 3 at final. Gotta take THSP 109? Take The Purple Lady!

What can I say? The Purple Lady is one the the best professors I've had at UTC. It is a speech class though, so she will critique everything you do and say. I've made A's on all my speeches & my mid-terms just by listening to her advice. She can make you a better, more confident speaker. If you have to take THSP 109, take the Purple Lady!

this is the easiest class! the purple lady is quite an experience. i've made A's on all of my speeches and probably have spent a total of one hour preparing for them all together! she does kinda seem biased sometimes, but its ok! if she likes you, she's easier on you and doesn't make as harsh of comments!i love this class

I disliked her very much. Although helpful at times, grades unfairly and makes harsh comments.
