Comment:
I would definitely take Dr. Gordon's class again. However, in order to be successful in PSC 403J, you need to prepare for the exams starting the second week of class and keep preparing because the exams are a wildcard; there are 30 possible questions and only six need to be answered on the exam. Ask Dr. Gordon for help if you need it.

I hated my experience with this professor. She grades the essays really harshly, and the exams are essays that you have to write from memory. She gives you around 30 questions on the study guide and then only asks you 6 questions on the exam so you have to study a lot for stuff that you will not be asked about.

I took her class over the summer and we only used one textbook, even though she recommended another one that was not necessary. In total there were: two essays, discussion posts almost every week, and quizzes almost every week. There were two exams and they are difficult, but if you get the gist of the material, you should pass. Tests are proctored

The tests were not curved. I would look on the average scores that students received on the midterm and final, -and noted that no one got a 100%. She also makes the 2 tests 60% of your grade. I received As on everything except for the midterm - at 72 - and fought with her on every assignment so that I wouldn't end up with a C. AVOID IF POSSIBLE

Do the reading for the reading quizzes then you are setup to succeed. They are once a week and a lot of reading. Two tests, not very hard.

Like others, you just need to give her what she expects. And, she will tell you exactly what that is. Explain yourself clearly, stick to the point, and avoid fluff. There is a LOT of reading and memorization of terms and concepts, but she does provide exam study guides to help you. For the essays, follow the criteria. Office hours are good too.

If you are a political science major/minor you will learn a lot in her classes. Her tests are difficult, but she did add a midterm and a final to all of her classes so studensts can achieve their grades. She does have a couple of papers for each class, but if you just stick to the big picture and explain yourself fairly well you can get an A.

Great sense of humour. The reading ties her lecture together very well. Attendance is not mandatory, but she prefers bodies in seats. She gives extra credit when the class is sparse.

This class was super hard. I'm an A student and I found myself studying for hours in order to even get a C on her tests. She is unclear and her study guide is useless. She gives you thirty or more terms to be tested on and only pics five. You have to know paragraphs for every single term. If you want an A, do not take this teacher!

Great course and great instructor. She is on top of her game in lecture and expects the same. Very professional. Not an easy class, but very rewarding with proper effort, and lecture atmosphere is fast-paced and upbeat.

Stacy is a great instructor. You get out of this class what you put into it. It's a 400 level capstone and she teaches it as such. She tests hard but grades fair and you'll learn a lot. If you're looking for an easy grade this isn't for you.

Stacy's one tough cookie, but she certainly knows her stuff. If you really want to get more bang for your buck, take any class with her. Lots of reading, quizzes, simulations and papers. She makes you work for your grade, yes, but overall, very effective at her job.

I have taken two classes from her and i thought they were both interesting. There is a moderate amount of reading and you do need to put some effort into studying but i got A's in both. She really knows her stuff and keeps the lectures interesting.

This class is great. She's very helpful and her lectures aren't ridiculously boring. Make sure you keep up with the reading and going to lectures isn't manadtory, but I recommend it, unless you have a friend who takes great notes. You get study guides for tests and easy points for the other assignments. There's no reason you can't get an A or B.

She is very confusing. You ask her a question and she talks about something else. She asks the class a question and no matter what anyone anwsers it is right, very hard to know what she thinks is right or wrong. I wouldnt take her class again

This was an on-line class, but when I went to her office she helped a lot. A lot of reading though. The reading was much heavier in the first half than the second half of the course. And the system didn't work too well, as there were a lot of technical errors.

She is a great professor, knows her material, and is very interested in student opinions. You must do the reading and pay attention in class to do well...exams are essay/short answer structured, you MUST take advantage of her study guides to do well. She appreciates clear and concise writing-do not talk in circles, it will get you nowhere w/her.

She is amazing. Teaches you a lot and is very willing to help. Get on her good side, she is good for rec letters. You need to do the reading for the tests. Tests are difficult, make sure you know the info backwards and forward. 1 paper 3 tests total...she will teach you a lot and she is brilliant. Greatest Prof. I've had at UNR.
