Comment:

His class was pretty difficult. He doesn't do handouts so expect to take a lot of notes. His exams and homework are tough. He's helpful and does a good job explaining things so they make sense. I also had a small class size(6 people) which gave him more time to help each person. Grades tough but fairly. I would recommend him if you can take him.

Excellent! Interesting lectures, explains things very well, and really tries to help everyone he can that has problems. If you have to take more astro classes, Federman is by far the best professor for astro!

Avoid this prof unless you are VERY interested in astronomy. His lectures are 75 minutes of unbearable boredom. 30 minutes into class you are just writing words on a page and aren't processing any of it. If you aren't naturally smart or don't study a lot, a B will be very hard for you to obtain.

hardest teacher i've ever had. the lectures are extremely boring and geared towards people who already know stuff about astronomy. he talks forever and the powerpoints make no sense--dont take him if you dont have too, i had to work my butt off to get a B

This is the most honest rating you will get... He isnt easy.. but if you need help!!! go and see him and he is always willing to help you.. I needed help more then once, and he helped.. He also gave me extra credit when i needed it...He is straight to the point but if you take notes you will be okay, and he curves his test... Great guy.

SUCKS!!! Gives about 10 pages of noted per class. Then gives you exams with very detailed questions. BORING also. What a ****. If you are not a Astronomy major don't take this class, he sucks.

This teacher is not interesting at all to me, I feel like his teaching is geared toward science majors and that he has WAY too many notes. He talks forever, and constantly asks the class questions that no one knows. Everyone just sits there because they don't know the answer and he'll just wait until someone guesses something stupid so we can mov

This class was great. He makes class fun and interesting to those uninterested. Exams weren't too hard if you wrote down the given notes. Definitely suggest taking Dr. Federman.

Comment:

One of the best teachers I've had... he lectures, but asks the class questions to participate and loves discussion and to see that the class is interested. Be ready to take notes, but he is very clear and there are no surprises on the tests. I've learned a lot, and the material is interesting, and the work load is no where near overwhelming.

He, is goofy! Long lectures with lots of notes! Oh and "cartoons" He could talk about astro for hours and hours. He doesnt let you out until its past time to leave, exams are not hard, nor are the 10 quizzes. Just read the notes and you will do fine.

Be prepared to take lots of notes in his class!! He also has 10 homework assignments. His exams are not that hard...the hard part sifting thru the notes and figuring out what should be studied the most since there are alot of notes.
