Sue is literally the best violinist I've ever heard or learned from!!! (I'm not a person who exaggerates) If you don't have any musical background, I would say that her classes are quick-paced. If you do know music, this will be an easy class. Just put yourself to it. Great teacher! I love her geeky musical puns. She explains things when asked to.

Comment:

When I first took the class, I wasn't very fond of Sue. I grew to love her though as the semester went on. I would not recommend taking this class if you want someone to sit down and teach your piano, I feel like she kind of just expects you to know how to play when you walk in there. She will always help if you ask though, take advantage of it!

Took her online Music Appreciation course. I found it to be much more difficult than I ever thought it would be. I have no musical experience. I never spoke with her face to face, but she was quick to respond to e-mails, and very very helpful. I have no complaints.

Sue is a dream. She is quite knowledgeable in her field and she truly wants to teach those who wish to learn. She occasionally tells jokes that are a bit geeky and some people don't realize it because she's not very charismatic, but she means well and truly wants to help her students.

Sue is a great teacher! She plays several instruments & is very knowledgable about music. The class may move a little fast if you have no prior music knowledge. She is pretty funny and very willing to help if you don't understand something. Definitely recomended.

I was surprised at how unfriendly she was towards myself and most other students. She knows music, but there are so many better alternatives at Cabrillo that I think taking theory from her is a big risk. Don't do it unless you have very thick skin. She seemed to project an aura of "I don't want to be here" every day.

Sue is a fabulous teacher. She is caring and willing to spend extra time if you need it. I learned so much from her. She rocks! She stays on task and helps you to. Knows how to keep annoying people quiet. That's not rude, it's smart.

Great teacher, the material isn't hard as long as you take the time to learn it. If you do what she asks in the work given out there's no reason why you wouldn't do well in this class. I highly recommend her, the only thing that I didn't like was the fact you had to write and perform a short song in front of the class for the final.

Very helpful... Prior to enrolling in the class, I had no idea what music theory was all about...but it changed after the class ended. She makes learning fun and is very passive when it comes to projects/hwk.

A wonderful musician. She gives you the foundation and tools to become a better musician. I recomend her theory classes for non-musicians and musicians alike! The review has helped me immensly.

Sue is an amazing teacher, who is incredibly talented when it comes to tutoring beginning and intermediate students. I've taken her Beginning Strings, Intermediate Strings, and Chamber Ensembles classes, and enjoyed each one.
