Prof Farrell has an incredibly generous grading system that makes it so hard to fail. When doing papers she does a lot of group/peer review which is super helpful. Reading is important but you could probably get away with Sparknotes. She does tend to dominate discussions but overall an awesome professor

While she wants you to participate in class, she interrupts and cuts students off everytime someone speaks. She is very all over the place and is typically a couple lessons behind. The tests are very hard and require paying attention to small details including naming authors of poems based on one line of the poem.

Dr. Farrell is an outstanding teacher/professor. There are teachers and then there are REAL teachers. She is a REAL teacher. She likes students. She likes the subject she teaches. Strongly suggest that you have at least one class with her before you leave the CofC.

Had Dr. Farrell for women's lit and she is one of the most caring teachers I had at CofC. Enjoyed almost all readings she assigned and the work load was manageable. Class lectures and group activities were sometimes boring and annoying, but Farrell really knows what she's talking about and is also interested in what you have to say. Easy grader.

She really knows what she's talking about, and you can tell that she really cares about her students. Only bad thing that can be said is that it's really difficult to get an A on papers in her class.

Comments that state she is gender biased are pretty inaccurate. I have had her as my professor twice in college and she is pretty easy to get along with if you're a decent student. The key to making good grades on your papers is to simply speak to her or have her look over a draft.

Dr. Farrell is extremely knowledgable about all the works that are discussed and read. She has a lot of insight on everything but test and detailed and challenging. Very helpful outside of class, and will absolutely benefit you to visit her a couple times.

Dr. Farrell is very helpful and has some very thoughtful things to say about all of the works we covered in class. That said, her exams are difficult, but she grades papers fairly. There is a strict attendance policy, so lazy students should not take her class.

I'm completely shocked there are any bad reviews of Prof. Farrell. She is one of the best professors I have ever had. SO kind, compassionate, and intelligent! Her classes are the only ones I ever look forward to. She's laid-back and always willing to help her students. I love love love her and hope to take more classes with her!

Prof Farrell was one of the best teachers I have had at CofC. I really didn't want to take women's studies but it ended up being my favorite class. She grades fairly and the material is interesting. The midterm and final are easy if you memorize the review and there are 3 papers. I would def take a class from her again.

Prof. Farrell's class is a good mix of lecture and discussion. She really likes for students to comment on the (numerous) readings and debate about them. There are no tests however we did have to write 4 papers. The papers aren't too bad (a lot of opinion) but if you have any trouble just take it to her office hours - she is extremely helpful!

Professor Farrell is one of the best professors i've ever had. She is very caring, and actually wants her students to succeed. She does grade a little roughly. She made me come to her office with my paper so i could get a better grade. She is very knowledgable in American Lit. and makes the class very interesting. Definately take her.
