Comment:

Sue is a high-energy, high-expectations, incredibly knowledgeable teacher. She is wonderful at teaching new tools, applying new concepts to your work, and giving honest, tough feedback to help you improve. I can honestly say I improved so much by the end of the semester, and her high expectations and enthusiasm motivated me to be a better artist.

Comment:

Sue is one of my fav professors! She can be tough sometimes. Definitely tells you how it is, but you just gotta take it with thick skin because she's not trying to hurt your feelings. She gives your feedback rather than criticism because she wants you to push yourself and become a better drawer. I drew things I never thought I could this semester!

Comment:

This class was my first real art class in college and as I took it I found my art to really improve thanks to the Professor. She will tell you like it is and when she suggests something to your drawing it helps a lot, so much such your respective. She can be fun if you learn to relax in the classroom and give feedback in critic day.

Comment:

Messer is on of many reasons I changed my major out of art. She will tell you whether you are good or bad in her opinion and she will be very blunt about it, but she will not tell you what she expects or how to do better. All assignments are incredibly vague and there is hardly any clarity. Is she a good professor? Not in my opinion.

She's a wonderful person. Really cares about her students. However, she will not hesitate to tell you if you have messed up. She makes you want to work hard(which is saying something coming from me) because you don't want to do badly in a class where the professor is so amazing.

Sue makes you work harder, making you a better artist. She knows what you are capable of and will push you to reach it. DO NOT skip class, she might not take attendance but she will know if you aren't there, and will remember that.

Had her for Drawing 2. Nice person, but a very hard grader. Expects you to only pay attention to her class and nothing else (even when you have all studios!!). Critiques last forever and aren't super helpful. Grades you down if you don't change your drawing to what SHE would do.

Sue is a really nice person, dont get me wrong, but she expects a lot out of a person. Shes one of those teachers that believes that THIS class is your only class=hard grader. Critiques are very long (usually an entire class period), but usually they go fast. Kind of fuzzy on some of the project descriptions.

took drawing 1 with her a few semesters ago, it was great and one of my favorite art classes to date, she is full of energy and tries to help everyone out. I dont think she has favorites.

Sue is a great professor, she is always very encouraging, and very approachable. Her classes are labor intensive but you'll end up becoming a better artist for it. She does play favorites to an extent but as long as you put effort into your work and get it done on time you wont have a problem

Susan will challenge you - I believe I learned more from her classes than many others since I had to create with a REASON rather than just do whatever. You cant get away with laziness, but you get what you put in - she was a BIG influence to me.

very critical of students work. Uses words that are large so she looks smart but when you ask her to clarify she cant.
