Comment:

Dr. Ferriss is an excellent professor. Some of the reviews below sound like people who weren't happy with their grades. She is a tough grader but she is also really willing to work with you to improve your writing and critical reading. Both of those work hand in hand, and Ferriss knows how important that is for any major not just literature.

Comment:

I took this class online. I felt like I was being graded more on my writing ability than my interpretation of the reading material. She provided a lot of good feedback on my essays and I improved with each assignment; however, I felt she expected too much. I put in a lot of effort, but ended up with an average grade. Very difficult to get an A.

Her class is very interesting and she is very passionate about the material which makes class all the better. She is a tough grader though and we only had two major papers in class so it was critical to do well. There is a lot of reading and she gives a simple quiz on the reading every class but does not grade too strictly on these.

Prof. Ferriss is well structured and organized. Her presentation is very clear and informative. I also like her personality. She is humorous and friendly. I can strongly recommend her.

Took Honors Chick Flicks with her. Class involves watching movies, reading novels and writing. She does expect you to read a lot in a little amount of time, and she is NOT an easy grader when it comes to writing. But overall, she is a fair and nice teacher.

I honestly hate this teacher! Don't fall for the goody two shoe reviews about her. This lady WILL ruin your gpa and she has destroyed any interest I had for literature. She's a hard grader and she focuses more on your silly mistakes rather than the content of your paper.YOU WILL NOT GET AN A IN HER CLASS!!!She makes it impossible.

wow!! I have no words. Hard class, I took it online and it was sooo hard!!! I have advanced writing and recieved an A in that class. However, I did not do well in professor ferris class...The text books dont really help. Go on line for clarification. Good Luck, Your going to need it!

She's the best, makes class fun and exciting. Heavy textbook use, around 4-6 thesis/defenses, 2 major essays and a few quizzes. Read the book and review the notes she gives you. Love this professor!

Great professor, she really knows her stuff. She's smart, funny and very helpful. Not only is she understanding, but she makes the class come alive. We read interesting stories, act out some dramas and express our opinions. Her class is a must take! You won't regret it. You need the book, you need to read and you need to go to class!

Dr. Ferriss is a great professor. You WILL learn how to write well. Her office is very open to come and see her. She will even go over papers for a different class with you! She is a tough grader but as I said her office is open so use it! Go to class and read when she tells you to read and you will be fine!

MODERNIST WORLD LITR. - She is really one of my fav. teachers at Nova...her class is very interesting. There's not too much work, but tons of reading, like REALLY tons that you HAVE to finish BEFORE each class b/c she always gives a quiz! She's a tough grader, but as others have said, very fair. If you're looking for an easy class: not it.
