I took Intro to Japanese Culture 142 before it got cut. Fun, clear lectures. A couple of group projects that were very fun and easy to do. He speaks clearly and taking efficient notes is easy. He was helpful and communicated with students with care. I wish more professors were like him. It was a wonderful class, and he made everyone feel welcome.

Jumps around in the lecture and asks questions about things we haven't discussed at all like we are supposed to know it. All tests were open book besides the final, but they were all short answer and he graded hard and sporadically from student to student. Even on opinion/interpretation questions he would dock if you if your opinion wasn't 'right'.

You can tell he cares about his job and the students A LOT. He compliments students all the time. You will laugh hard every day! Really organized. Will gladly help you IF YOU SEEK IT outside of class (if not google will be your friend). Type of guy that made me want to do good for reasons other than the grade. English is very understandable.

Class was always so much fun. Don't get me wrong, Japanese is a hard language, but I didn't find this class hard. He's good at teaching and is lenient if you miss due dates. The final was a worksheet that you could work on with other students. You still have to put in the effort, especially with kanji, but most learning is done in class.

Mita Sensei is a professor that I had to have several times before it finally clicked with me how he operates as a professor. He is teaching a language, which is a very difficult thing to teach. To succeed in his class, you must be motivated, dedicated, and passionate about what you're learning. You need to take care and practice to succeed.

We had a midterm that was worth 30% of our grade and was two written questions. He graded tons of people with 0's. Now I don't think my work was grade A material but it definitely wasn't a 20%. Luckily I took his class as just a fun class that looked interesting to me so I could just drop it and take the W. He's funny but still pretty bad.

He discussed almost everything that would be on tests the days before. If you did cumulative studying, you'd do well in class. ALWAYS attend class. If you miss, then you missed a lesson that he doesn't go over again. His grading is pretty sketchy. He grades more on a participation, attempt, and likability scale opposed to ability.

Mita Sensei is alright. He makes me laugh almost every class, and he does his best to make things fun. His teaching style isn't the greatest. You definitely have to study outside of class to make sure you know the material. Sometimes he doesn't understand questions that students ask, especially if they're more abstract. My Japanese has improved.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Don't waste his time if you are taking it just for fun. This class is laid back and fun but it won't be fun if you aren't motivated. And yes, you CAN be denied of studying abroad if you show lack of interest. Classmates of mine that disliked him didn't try hard.

He is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. He makes me want to learn Japanese. Very funny and don't know what to expect in that class. He does pick on the better and favorite people to always answer, but will try to get everyone involved. His biggest flaw is that he doesn't teach Japanese very thoroughly. Leaves you lost sometimes.

He is very funny and class is always a riot. If you are smart, or if it is obvious you try/study he will like you-if he doesn't,however, you will be ignored. Won't slow down for students who need extra help. This will either push you to work extra hard or just drop the class. Prior knowledge if an unspecified must, but you will learn a lot in class

A giant leap from 101. Full essays and weekly emails were new assignments from 101. Situational Functional Japanese Vol.2 is used, and this book loses quality after reaching halfway through the book. He also just expects us to know general vocabulary, just like in 101, and it is not taught to us outside the specific chapter.

101 is not taught as introductory. He pretty much expects students to have studied kana prior to taking this class. Provides very good handouts that cover the chapters and the tests very well. Tests are derived almost directly from such handouts.

Mita is awesome. His classes are always fun. Very helpful and understanding. Wants to work with you. 101 was pretty easy for me. 102 is much more demanding. Since this is outside my major, I often can't put in the effort I'd like. I love the class and I love Japanese, but it's hard to put in the time necessary.

I love Mita-sensei. He's a really funny teacher, he makes class fun and he makes us laugh a lot. He favors the really good students, but he doesn't just ignore everyone else. He tries to get everyone involved in whats going on. The class seems a little hard in the beginning, but if you stick with it, it becomes a lot easier.

Mita-sensei is the most unforgettable professor you will ever have in your college career. He's hilarious and not a single class period goes by without you laughing your butt off. He's extremely friendly and organized and tries to personally connect with every student. Mita-sensei will tease you, but in good fun. Very intelligent and fun.

He's a funny guy. Completely certifiably, off-his-rocker insane. I enjoyed his class and am taking 102 next semester. Side note- it seems pretty difficult for most people, about half the class has dropped out.
