I went into Prof. Hoyt's Class.. clearly jaded in my view of philosophy.. but his way of teaching changed all of that.. Now daily my conversations are about Socrates, Plato, Aristotle.. I see the world around me differently.. and I love him for it.. I encourage others to jump on the Philosphy train and ride to a new inner destiny OHMMMM... OHMMMM

Prof Hoyt is not a push over but he is not easy. He expects attendance but if you have a legitimate excuse or conflict ie? Work or family he will definitely work with you and that goes for make up assignments as well. The material is a bit dry but you get out what you put into it. I enjoyed Dr. Hoyt and this class. Admittedly, I thought he was difficult to understand at first. With time I came to realize the subject matter was causing the difficulty. I earned an A in this course and I am an A-B student. Dr. Hoyt expects attendance, participation, and effort. He does not expect you to be right or agree with him- just sho

I was not looking forward to this class because Philosophy is not my thing, but Dr. Hoyt was a great teacher and I had fun in the class. I knew I was not an A student in this class because at times it was challenging. I received the grade that I felt that I deserved which was a B. I will definitely take him again.

Avoid this professor at all costs. He does not let you think for yourself and he is constantly telling us that we are not capable of understanding the class. Unless you want to be treated like your in high school again, avoid this guy all together.

Avoid this professor at all costs!!! His lectures are extremely boring and are very difficult to comprehend. You have homework for every class and a fair amount of term papers to turn in. He does give you the essay questions for the midterm and final a week in advance. He's a terrible professor and i would recommend finding another professor!!

Stupid 300 Word Min. writing assignments every other week. Boring Class. Take an easier class if possible, but if you had no choice like me, you can make an A too. Just show him your concerned and that your working hard, and hell help you out in the end. Positive is that you get questions for Midterm + Final. ;)

no tests except a midterm and final. a 300 word essay is due every other week and he collects homework on occasion. not extremely difficult. if you go to class and do your assignments you will at least get a B. he grades papers hard but will give you a "redo" instead of a bad grade. hes really into philosophy...not a bad teacher

This professor is awesome. If you show up to class, do your homework (which takes like 15 minutes), and do the easy 5 1-page papers you will easily get a B. He is very understanding of absences even though attendance is mandatory. He gives you the midterm and the final ahead of time. Just memorize what you are going to write and your fine.Easy B

He is a horrible teacher. He is hard to follow and can never keep his ideas straight to start with. He is never sure of the point he is trying to teach. You also have several useless papers to turn in. Do not take this class!
