I'm not sure why her rating is so low, she was a great professor. She only gave a few Quizzes and only two Written Exams and those exams are a big deal take them seriously. You do need to study but it's not intensive, a lot of it is memorization. What keys are what, what notes or symbols mean. She's super lenient on grading too so I wouldn't worry.

Because it is a music class you do have to practice at home and not just in class if you really want to actually learn. I took this intro to piano class and it has been really helpful especially because I did not know a thing about playing the piano. Professor is nice and her tests/quizzes are easy.

She is funny sometimes but gets very annoying at some point, but over all its an easy class if you have some experience in music. You have quiz like almost everyday or any other week, the test are easy. She goes over with the class so you will be fine.

Quizzes practically every day. Long, hard piano written and playing tests. Hard to understand and she acted like everyone knew how to play already. Hated this class so much! Annoying teacher...

she is the worst teacher i have had yet at fresno state. my roommate had recommended music 9 for an easy A. she taught the class as if we knew how to play the piano. everyone in my class absolutely hated her. she should be fired for being a **** pig and not allowed to teach any longer.

Comment:

Dr. Beaman was instrumental in helping me pursue a professional playing career. My lessons were very informative and relevant to current performance practices. Fresno can be an isolated place and she brings true inspiration to a musical desert. I highly recommend her!

Awful teacher. Doesn't care about her students, only knows/teaches/plays modern music, ignores french, classical, baroque, orchestral, and anything else useful for a flute career. Be prepared to learn your scales, maybe an etude or two and how to hold your flute in a position that is actually quite detrimental to you physical health.

I mean i can stress how important it is to go to class, and do the work. if you do those two things alone you should be fine. she is alittle jumpy,and picky, she never gives A's on compositions nor Papers. you have to be extremely perfect, but you will still git an A in the class, as long as you practice outside of class, and do all assigments.

Dr. Beaman teaches one way, and one way only. She's very knowledgable, and is an amazing flute player, but if her teaching method doesn't work for you, don't expect her to change it. She tends to only really like her naturally talented students.
