He is an amazing professor and a great person. You have to do the assigned reading to get credit and participate in class. He has 2-3 tests that are all written, but he gives you ideas about what they will include. As long as you read, and participate, your grade will be good. He doesn't use blackboard though so don't slack off in the beginning.

This man is the best professor you could ever have. Taking him has been the highlight of my undergraduate career and Im truly sad that I will not be able to learn from him anymore. Not only will you read some amazing books, but you will watch the best movies, and hear one of the greatest speaker discuss topics he is very passionate about.

The best man ever, literally makes history class fun! A ton of movies, discussions, fun because he lived through this era so he tells personal stories along with the material. Have to pay attention but he makes it fun. Make sure you read!!!

Dr. P is the greatest professor I have encountered in my undergraduate career. He expects students to put in the amount of work spelled out in the syllabus but he puts in just as much work teaching and grading the work. You will love him as long as you are willing to try to learn. Worry about the material not the grade and you will do fabulously

Read lots of Shakespeare accompanied by movies of the plays. Made it really easy to understand the plays better than I've ever been taught before. Analytical essays are paired with each couple plays. His wife taught most of the course, such a cute old married couple!

The Parssinen's are great teachers. They coteach a lot of history courses together and they do a very good job. You always know what you will be graded on and what is expected of you. I do not find them very difficult and they do help you see history in a new way. At times the material can get a little dry but they are very passionate.

I definitely know much more than I thought I did about WWII, really enjoyed the class, 1 paper due; loved the reading material; the videos provided to give us,provided a visual of the events that occurred, which help greatly to memorize the material for the exams, reading the material is a must to pass the class and attendances, NOT for the LAZY

America in the 1960s is greatly taught by Dr. Parssinen and Mrs. Dr. Parssinen, both were a great asset to this course so that the students would get a better understanding of that time frame, since after all, they lived through the 1960s. Do reading before class, 2 exams;maybe a paper or 2; ensure you engage in discussions, don't miss class.

Mostly watched stupid videos instead of learning actual information. The books were helpful and not too hard to read. Expects you to add to discussion. His grading is all over the place, I received a C on my first paper and A's on the following ones for no apparent reason. There is no rubric for assignments. Take at your own risk!

Dr. Parssinen & his wife are amazing teachers. They co-teach each course. He is a history buff and she is all about literature. Get ready to read a lot but learn a ton. They will teach you things you didn't know you didn't know. Attendance and participation are crucial to get a good grade but they always give feedback on work. Take their class!

Dr. Parsinnen and Dr. Carol Parsinnen are the best professors at UT. I absolutely love them, I have taken two classes with them, and I am planning on taking them again. They really know what they're talking about, and they truly care about their students and their well being.

He is amazing. You won't find a better prof. at UT. He really cares about his students and how you are doing in the class. He is incredibly helpful. Its very easy to do well in his classes because he doesn't lecture the class just has discussions that you learn everything you need to get an A in. He's Mr. Feeny but even better.

There has only been one semester at UT during which I did not take a class with Dr. Parssinen. He is my all-time favorite teacher. He requires that you work and pay attention because he deserves your best. If you blow this guy off because you'll have to use your brain in his class, its your loss.

Dr. Parsinnen is an amazing professor. He made me tremendously interested in the 1960's America class. He is STRICT on attendance (which I am not a fan of) but he is very accurate and humble when he teaches. Unlike many professors here at UT. His wife teaches it with him and she is a little diva! I love it tho. Dr. P will require work, fair grader!

Dr. Parssinen is the best professor. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help. Yes, he is difficult, but his class is well worth the work. You will learn more in his class than any other class. He is a bit old fashion but it is very refreshing to have a professor that is so passionate about what he is teaching.

Dr. P is absolutely the best professor at UT. Yes, he does expect you to keep up with the reading, and there is a lot, and actually put some effort into the papers, again there are a lot, but short 600 to 800 words, . . . oh yeah and partake in the class discussions, which are a large part of the class. But, this is college so suck it up and deal w

Interesting man, boring discussions. Watch a lot of movies, and tests are really easy, all essay questions. Didn't even read any of 'A Distant Mirror' or 'Montaillou', still got B in class. He expects EVERYONE to talk, or gets upset. Must come to class; great prof., not so great classroom setup.
