I had Buchanan for Intro to Sociology my first semester, and it was by far my favorite class. I really enjoyed it. He encourages discussion, and lectures were always interesting. You don't need the text book. If you show up for class and take good notes (he writes everything on the board) making an A won't take much effort.

Professors don't get much nicer than Dr. Buchanan. He is very approachable and will put any concerns you may have to rest. His lectures made me doze off every now and then but that's only because of the material, not him. Tests are simple if you study a little and he grades essays very fairly. Take him if you get the chance!

He's a really great teacher who is very passionate about what he does. If you go to him during his office hours he will explain anything you need help understanding for as long as it takes. His lectures can get a little boring, but if you do the reading and review you'll be fine. Also randomly takes attendance for points, so go every day!

Great prof. Serious and passionate about his field and very cute- what more could you want? I had him in Spring of '08 for 314 and Spring of '07 for intro. I learned a lot in both courses. Go to class, study for tests, start writing your proposal at a decent time; basically, don't just blow off the class and you should manage to get an A.

He makes class very fun and entertaining.Goes very slow and really wants students to succeed.The class is easy overall but just try to pay attention in class because the book sucks.I highly recommend Dr.Buchanan because he is a funny and great teacher and really wants everyone to excel.He grades somewhat harshly though.

Dr. B is awesome. He tries really hard to help even the people who think they'll never get stats. Goes slow and is patient b/c he'll do a million examples if needed. He gives 3 tests and a final which is comprehensive. He's really funny and wants to have good time so take him - he's awesome.

Dr. Buchanan is awesome! Sociologly really wasnt my class, as you can tell from my grade,but he is a great teacher.It wasnt his fault I didnt get a better grade,I just couldnt get interested in the class.His tests are mostly from notes, so you must go to class,gives 4 tests, final not comprehensive.Must write 3 out of 4 essays,will drop lowest 1.

I loved loved loved this class!! He is so interesting and easy to listen to. His tests are very straight forward, if you attend class, and take notes you will be fine. I would recommend him to everyone!
