I would only take this class if you are good at art and are used to an environment where you get critiqued. He does kind of roast you in class, but its helpful advice and if you do what he tells you to change (even if it's bad) he'll be lenient. He was pretty funny sometimes.

He was one of the rudest professors I have ever had. Many of my classmates skipped classes due to anxiety. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone that is anxious.

He's really a nice guy and jokes around a lot with his students. He is an amazing artist so it was nice to have someone give me good feedback and criticism. He's a fairly tough grader and expects a decent amount of effort but if you respect him and try you'll get an A.

All around an awesome professor who wants to see students pass. It was my first art class in my life and I still got a good grade. You dont need to be a great artist or an arts major to do well in the class. I would highly recommend taking this class with Tom.

Tom is awesome. Friendly, down to earth, easy going. Good teacher (I've had him for watercolor a couple of times, drawing, and figure drawing). Sometimes a little long winded in demonstrations, but there are definitely things to be learned from him.

Awesome, chill guy. Deadlines are always flexible and you can turn things in whenever. Good instructor, moves at a good pace, really tailors his feedback according to individual ability. Class is fun, easy and relaxing. Pretty much an easy A as long as you complete things by the end of the year. You can skip classes occasionally if needed

Wonderful! My best professor yet at Geneseo. Gives great instruction for watercolor being such a difficult subject. Always friendly, fair grader and easy to find and talk to. Highly recommend even with no art experience.

I've had Tom for watercolor I, printmaking I and figure drawing I and every time i love him as a professor. he is clear, nice, helpful and the best ever...he's like fatherly. I recommend his classes to everyone, major and non-majors alike.

Tom is one of the most genuine people in the art dept.. In a dept. that's full of professors and student who can be conceived as pretentious, rude,&ignorant, Tom truly stands out. He will always help you develop a drawing, print, painting, or whatnot, just ask him for help. He wants his student to do well and he cares about teaching as it should be

AWESOME GUY. AWESOME CLASS. i highly recommend this professor. he teaches watercolor like you've never done it before, giving good direction and feedback... but if you have done watercolor, you will still be challenged.
